All in the Family

Dexter 3×4

& Dexter: Role playing... It’s such an important part of growing up. When we were kids, whatever role Deb assigned me — evil monster, treacherous Nazi, horrible alien — I played them to perfection... The only roles I had trouble with were good guys — heroes, knights in shining armor. It just never felt right.

& Rita: Being a father and being a husband are two very different things. You don’t have to be both. I don’t want both unless it’s real.
Dexter: Real... How do you show someone real love when you don’t even know what it feels like?

& Dexter: Deb, your butt’s buzzing.

& Dexter: You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink... Unless you order his favorite and keep him waiting. And waiting.

& Dexter: I never had that.
Miguel: Maybe you’re lucky you don’t have it to lose...

& Miguel: I can just see that you’re used to carrying your secrets to yourself.
Dexter: Tends to be safer that way.
Miguel: But it’s a hell of a burden, man.

& Dexter: If you play a role long enough, really commit, does it ever become real? Could I become real?
Ω That’s The Question.

& Rita: Dexter, what is it?
Dexter: My life has always felt like... an unanswered question. A string of days and nights, waiting for something to happen, but... I didn’t know what.
Cody: Why is he acting so weird?
    Astor: I don’t know.

& Rita: Yes! Yes, we will marry you.

& Dexter: Most actors toil in obscurity, never stepping into the spotlight. But if you hone your craft, work diligently, you might just find yourself cast in the role of a lifetime.
