Wrath of the Gods

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Finale, Episode 10

& Oenemaus: A man is never too weak... or too wounded to fight. If the cause is greater than his own life.

& Glaber: A most unpleasant tongue.

& Glaber: He holds the higher ground. It cannot be taken yet without severe loss of men.
Ilithyia: Yet... it can be taken?

& Crixus: You once dreamt of honor upon the sand... Make this your final arena.

& Ashur: You think this makes difference? My death will not heal the scars you bear. Nor erase memory of my cock inside of her, or all those that followed.
Naevia: No. It will not. But it is a fucking start.

& Spartacus: The Romans hold numbers far outweighing our own. Yet they have revealed time and again fatal flaw. That they believe the Roman way is the only one. Just as they believe that there is only one way to leave this mountain. We shall teach them that we forge our own paths. And nothing in this world is impossible, when heart and mind are put towards it.

& Spartacus: Let us begin a lesson forever remembered.

& Agron: The sound will mask descent. The gods bless us with good fortune.
Spartacus: Free men create their own. We are all gods this night. And the Romans shall feel our wrath.

& Lucretia: No one left to come between us.

& Ilithyia: Stop. Please. We are friends, are we not?
    Lucretia: The very best.

& Oenemaus: I owe you pain.

& Spartacus: The Roman finally learns his place before us!.. On his knees!

& Spartacus: Let Rome send their legions! We will face them! And see all follow Glaber in death! Now we will become an army.

Monsters

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 9

& Ilithyia: I would have life as it was, with my husband beside me.
Glaber: The man you speak of no longer exists.
Ilithyia: Then what stands before me?
Glaber: A monster. Rough hewn by unfortunate events, and given breath by necessity.

& Crixus: We are not a fist, but fingers twitching absent single purpose.

& Spartacus: My words crash upon ear, but fail to pierce heart.
Agron: Then we must stab deeper. Perhaps a punishment, for those who fail in the day’s training?
Spartacus: You cannot forge trust and loyalty at the ends of a whip, as the Romans believe.
Agron: Then what would you use? Soft kisses and whispers of love?

& Spartacus: It lifts heart, to ... see us bonded. Not by brand. Not by homeland. But by an ideal. That every man... every woman... should be born, should live, and should die with the taste of freedom forever upon their lips.

& Lucretia: He gives you my husband’s legacy?!
Ashur: We shall forge a new one, my love. As husband and wife. And together we shall see the noble rise of the House of Ashur.

& Oenemaus: Drink and contest. A clever strategy, to forge necessary bonds.
Spartacus: And I would see more follow...

& Spartacus: Let us have new contest! Agron! Crixus!.. Take position. Gannicus! Oenomaus!.. Stand against them.

& Crixus: Agron. You fought well... For a simple fuck from east of the Rhine.
Agron: As did you... For a shit-eating Gaul.

& Lucretia: You are no longer a girl, unblemished by the world. You’re a woman now. And our hands shape the fates, when those of men tremble.

& Glaber: I cast you aside... yet you save my life?
    Ilithyia: You are my husband.
Glaber: We cannot be what we were.
Ilithyia: Then let us be what we are.

& Ilithyia: We are both monsters, Gaius. Let us be so together, and seize the fucking heavens.

& Spartacus: Glaber commands from the rear. A coward’s position. He will advance his troops in tight formation, intending to overpower. It is the Roman way. We will teach them ours.

& Glaber: They now hold the high ground. We’ve lost advantage.
Ashur: You would let them go free?
Glaber: No. I would let them feast on mud and rock. And when hunger and madness drive them from their perch... We shall kill them all.

Balance

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 9

& Crixus: You learn quickly.
Naevia: I have advantage. Of being taught by a god.

& Nemetes: Are we to use wooden stick in battle as well? I need no instruction. I fucking know how to fight.
Oenemaus: I instruct you not how to fight, but how to win. So you do not find yourself again enslaved by the Romans. First position!

& Ilithyia: The child is yours.
Ω It’s complicated.

& Spartacus: I am not Glaber. Able to strike a woman down for his crimes absent misgivings.
Gannicus: And what of the women crucified in the streets of Capua? Tortured to death because they dare whisper your name, eyes bright with thoughts of freedom and rebellion? Take the her life and end this now. Or see countless more fall in the name of your cause.

& Mira: He is a good man. I will not let him be destroyed by this. I will not let him kill you.
    Ilithyia: You will help me?
Mira: Yes. I will help you... From this fucking world.

& Glaber: I fear you are right. You are not like me. Your wife was the heart that beats within your breast. You would have given all to see her live. While I would do the same... to see you dead.

& Spartacus: Do you know what it is? To love? To be filled with light and hope? To see that blessing returned in kind, in the eyes of the only one that could ever know the true depth of your heart?

& Ilithyia: You let me live?
Spartacus: Do not think it a kindness.

Sacramentum

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 7

& Glaber: From this day forward, any slave who dares to whisper the name Spartacus shall be put to death.

& Crixus: Apologies...
Naevia: None deserved. It was a foolish attempt.
Crixus: You seek to part head from shoulders. There are blows that kill with less effort.
Naevia: Then I shall learn them!

& Seppia: Will they be enough?
Glaber: Added to my own troops, yes. They will be enough to bring Spartacus to justice.
Seppia: I do not seek justice... I seek vengeance.
Ω It’s all about vengeance.

& Ashur: I would advise caution. These men are the hand of Praetor Gaius Claudius Glaber.
Gannicus: And what are you? His cock or his ass?
Ashur: ... I am his will.

& Glaber: A former slave of the House of Batiatus, now sworn to bring errant brothers to justice. ... I would present you in glorious light at the front of my troops. To the roar of the crowd once again.
Gannicus: And if I no longer crave for such clamor?..
Glaber: You’re a free man. Your fate is your own.
Ω Choices, choices. Free man? Make a choice, please.

& Lucretia: Only blood can set us free now.

& Ashur: Gannicus has made his decision.

Chosen Path

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 6

& Gannicus: You have cock to rival Jupiter himself. A few errant slaves amounts to flies circling a bull’s ass.
Mira: Did he miss the part where we pulled the arena down on his head?
Gannicus: Rome is propped up by more than a few wooden beams. If your cause is to see your lives cut short, then you march towards certain victory.
Spartacus: Why did you choose to aid us, if you believe such?
Gannicus: You mistake choice for repayment of a debt. One owed to Oenomaus. Absent it... we would not be breaking words.

& Lucretia: You forget your place!
    Ashur: No. I secure it.

& Gannicus: I chose not to kill you in the arena. And now my rudis, my freedom, is forever buried beneath its rubble.
Spartacus: Freedom is not a stick of wood, to be presented as a bone to obedient dog. It is a thing all men deserve.

& Spartacus: It was Glaber who condemned us to slavery. And I will not rest while he yet draws breath.
Gannicus: This is the reason you provoke the Romans? For the memory of your woman?
Spartacus: For love. The greatest cause of all.
Gannicus: One that has dragged many a man to his ruin.

& Mira: You seek Donar’s affection now?
Chadara: I seek only my place in this world.
Mira: Then seize it with your own hands. Not by the spreading of your legs.

& Gannicus: The heaviest price is always paid by those we love.

& Seppia: You’re blessed, to hold such a man.
Ilithyia: The gods grant only what is deserved.

& Naevia: There is no place that memory would not follow.

& Gannicus: Do you stay?
    Crixus: We do.
Gannicus: Then I shall mourn your passing.
Mira: Is it wise to let him go?
Spartacus: Every man has a right to his own choice. Gannicus has made his.

Libertus

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 5

& Varinius: Three of Spartacus’ most trusted men, their deaths to serve as warning to all who would challenge Rome! Their blood to be shed ad gladium by the warriors whose victories this day have earned them position in the primus! Yet who shall lead the forces of Rome? Who deserves such storied mantle?.. There stands but one! The only gladiator from this fair city to ever earn his freedom upon the sands! A true God of the Arena! I give you... Gannicus!

& Agron: What are your thoughts?
Spartacus: These executions serve as message. That Rome will smother any flame that burns against it’s rule. I would send message of our own... One that will ignite the hearts of all yet enslaved.

& Ashur: I will see myself freed of bondage. At any cost.

& Mira: The boy cheats death. Perhaps it is a sign.
Spartacus: We can not rely on omen. We must take strength in just cause, and bring it to bear.

& Spartacus: We have suffered wound and loss. We have been divided. Yet we are free. A thing beyond price. A thing I would see condemned brothers embrace once again. And in the doing of it, spread word to every slave yet beneath heel that even the mighty Republic bleeds when struck.

& Rhaskos: They give us swords absent fucking edge.
Oenemaus: Absent hope of victory as well.
Crixus: Let us prove them fools for giving us swords at all.

& Gladiator: I have longed to share the sands with Gannicus, the greatest champion ever to enter the arena.
Gannicus: There stand no champions here. Only men and their fates.

& Agron: I begin to question fucking plan.

& Spartacus: I have had my fill of games. Let us leave this arena forever.

& Glaber: We will survive this. Together. As husband and wife.

Empty Hands

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 4

& Varinius: We are politicians, are we not? Let us come to middle ground and see everyone satisfied. Choose a single man, and let us make sport of him in memory of your cousin.

& Varinius: What mortal dares defy the gods?
Glaber: Only one who would draw their wrath.

& Varinius: First blood has been drawn! Who stands next?!.. Remember, do not cut too deep. I would not deprive everyone fair turn!

& Magistrate: Your wife does not shy from taking life...
Ilithyia: That is how you sate desire, for love... or vengeance. Without hesitation.

& Marcus: Call the remaining squad.
Ashur: It will not make a difference. Spartacus is possessed by the gods themselves-
Marcus: Spartacus is here! Bear arms!
Ashur: You will draw them to us!
Marcus: And we will fight until the last drop of Roman blood-
Ashur: I am not a Roman. And I will not fucking die this night.

& Glaber: Apologies for earlier doubt. This evening has proven most advantageous.
Ilithyia: Yes. I long to see what dawn shall bring...

& Spartacus: Take Nasir. I will hold them back for as long as I am able.
Mira: No. I stay by your side.

The Greater Good

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 3

& Agron: You favor clever strategy. Fuck the man from behind.

& Spartacus: We do not choose love. It claims each man as it will.
Crixus: And it grips until there is nothing left.

& Crixus: We have all seen those held as friend, as family, as lover, fall to the Romans. Yet our fire still burns. And together we shall ignite an inferno. I move to Vesuvius with Spartacus.

& Lucretia: You but service the will of the gods.
    Ashur: I was serving you.
    Lucretia: And I them.
Ashur: Then I fear that we are both forsaken.

& Mira: I will not be helpless, as Naevia was. Her life slow march towards death.
Spartacus: We all move towards such end. Only the length of the journey differs.
Mira: Then let us greet it together. And show not all go quietly.

& Agron: I did what needed to be done, Spartacus. You must see this.
Spartacus: A lie for the greater good. One that would never have passed lips, had it been your brother Duro in her place... If a single life holds no value, then none are of worth.

& Ashur: You’re all the same. Spartacus. Crixus. The noble Oenomaus. Tsk, tsk, tsk, falling to ruin for women plowed by other men’s cock. Search heart, and feel the sting of truth.

A Place in This World

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 2

& Titus Batiatus: All men can be tamed. No matter how wild. One must only find an ember of purpose, and give it breath.

& Spartacus: You are presented choice, as we once were. To submit forever to Roman cruelty... or take up arms and to join us in freedom.
Villa's Dominus:  And who are you, to present such fucking offer?
    Spartacus: I am Spartacus.

& Agron: If we are to stand against Glaber and the Romans, we must liberate fighting men. Not waste effort on dwindling hope and worthless house slaves.
Spartacus: Every man has his worth. A lesson the Romans will soon learn.

& Spartacus: Now. Who would have blood?

& Agron: And how do you propose we train this wild little dog?
Spartacus: As Batiatus had Doctore train me.
Agron: And that turned out so well.

& Titus Batiatus: One must learn to kneel, if he is ever to rise. A necessary lesson... if you are to one day join the champions of the House of Batiatus.
Oenemaus: How is such a thing possible?
Titus Batiatus: The answer lies within your breast! You fight with the strength of men beyond your meager years. Yet lack the discipline to see it properly harnessed.

& Oenemaus: Tell me what I must do.
Titus Batiatus: The most difficult of tasks... You must discover your purpose. That which you fight for.
Oenemaus: I fight to stay alive.
Titus Batiatus: As do we all. But to grasp the heavens you must fight for something greater. Something beyond mere survival.
Oenemaus: You are my dominus. I fight for whatever you decide.
Titus Batiatus: No, no. This is a decision each man, whether slave or free born, must forge himself. It is yours alone.

& Chadara: I chose to lay with a fucking Gaul.
    Mira: Why?
Chadara: Not all of us have Spartacus to warm our beds, and see us to position.
Mira: You gain freedom only to be enslaved by that shit?
Chadara: Freedom is not without cost. I pay with the only coin I have... As do you.

Fugitivus

Spartacus: Vengeance

Season 2 Episode 1

& Glaber: This is a simple tumultus, Albinius. Undeserving the attentions of a praetor.
Albinius: You brought the Thracian to Roman soil, Gaius. You granted patronage to that grinning shit Batiatus a breath before his house fell to massacre. A massacre my daughter barely fucking escaped! ... Attend to this. Or see yourself rise no further within the Senate.

& Spartacus: Have you had sight of Doctore?
Crixus: The ludus was his life’s blood. To lay eyes upon those who have spilled it... It would salt mortal wound.

& Oenemaus: As I said, I have nothing of worth.

& Spartacus: We must proceed with caution.
Crixus: You?.. Advising caution?! The tempest shouts for the breeze to calm itself.

& Ilithyia: Gaius, why have I been brought here? To this house? ...
Glaber: This is our home now, Ilithyia... Until Spartacus falls.
Ω That came in handy This House.

& Spartacus: Doctore...
Oenemaus: That is no longer my title.
    Spartacus: Where do you go?
Oenemaus: There is but one place... For an animal without honor.

& Ilithyia: Everyone believed you dead, smashed upon the cliffs... Bits of bone and flesh your only testament. How did you survive, all alone?.. Lucretia...
Lucretia: We are friends. Are we not?
    Ilithyia: The very best.

& Mira: This is why we are yet in Capua... You hoped they would send Glaber.
Spartacus: No. I prayed for it.

& Mira: We need a leader. Not some angry boy who can barely piss without splashing everyone about him.

& Spartacus: The decision’s been made. We must stand as one. Or fall divided. A lesson hard learned. Shackle will be struck from every slave upon our path. We will see our numbers grow. And when they have become legion, we will face Glaber, and the hordes of Rome again. And the gods shall weep for their suffering.
