Jenny & Christian

Dates 1×8

& Christian: How many’s that?
    Jenny: Seven. Last week.
    Christian: Right.
Jenny: Four this week. Well, three. You’re the fourth.
Christian: Wow. Right, so that’s 11 in two weeks. Wow.

& Jenny: I mean, how hard can it be to just meet a nice, normal guy? That’s all I want.

& Jenny: It’s not fair, you know? Some of the world’s worst people have managed to get married. Hitler got married. Stalin got married. Those people on I’m A Celebrity get married every day of the week. Just, what is so wrong with me?

& Christian: Don’t feel guilty. Guilt? It’s just something that organised religion has invented, to make people feel bad about themselves, you know? Jesus Christ never, never had any time for guilt.

& Jenny: What’s this?
    Christian: It’s the Perfect Ten.
    Jenny: Perfect Ten?
Christian: Basically it’s just the Ten Commandments, except more, like... user-friendly. ... So the idea, right, is that it’s simple. It’s really easy, accessible. No bells and whistles. So instead of, erm, “Honour Thy Father and Thy Mother”, it’s, erm, “Look After Mum and Dad.” “Thou shalt not steal”? “Don’t steal.” It’s easy, you know?

& Christian: Stealing isn’t just about stealing things, you know? It’s about feeling “I’m not enough. I need to steal!” But you are enough! You know? You are enough! You. You’re enough.

& Jenny: My relationship with God is complicated... In that I don’t think he actually exists.

& Jenny: You know, if he exists then why do so many bad things happen, you know? Why would he let people die of liver cancer, or why would he let wars and natural disasters happen? Why would he let children get brutally murdered, or people’s weddings get cancelled a few weeks before the ceremony, leaving them completely humiliated in front of their friends and family? Why would he do those things if he exists? Makes no sense.

& Jenny: Are you mad?
Christian: Not mad, Jenny. Not mad. Married.

& Jenny: No, no, no, I’m not taking this any more. I’m finished with all this. I’d rather spend the rest of my fucking life by myself than put up with any more of this bullshit!

& Jenny: It’s pretty simple, actually. Just fuck off.

    Joey: I can’t.
Cristina: Why not If you don’t want to give your name, just call yourself Smith or something.
Joey: That would be a mistake.
    Cristina: Why?
    Joey: My name is Smith.

& Cristina: Who lives here?
    Joey: Me.
    Cristina: Did you break in?
    Joey: I fell.
    Cristina: Did you hurt someone?
    Joey: Only myself.

& Cristina: I’m guessing that you have psychological problems.
Joey: They put me up a mountain and told me to kill people. What’d they think would come back down the mountain?

& Joey: You’ve got a knife... I’ve got a spoon.

& Joey: Sister, I’m Catholic.
Cristina: I’m not your sister. I’m drunk and I’m up against the wall.

& Tracey: So, Joey... are you exclusively gay?
Joey: You know, it’s interesting... Recently... I’ve found myself attracted to... nuns.

& Joey: I believe in justice. Sometimes you have to make it happen yourself.

& Cristina: How will you get home?
    Joey: I’m a gangster. I’ll steal a car. ... I’ll walk. It’s a lovely morning.

& Mary: You’ve erm, still got love in your voice.
Luther: Well, you don’t stop loving someone, do you?.. Is that a problem?
Mary: It’s um, it’s the opposite of a problem.

& Ripley: Nice to meet you Mary, briefly.

& Luther: So what’s up with the website?.. Can’t we just pull it down or trace it to the source or whatever you do with websites?
Schenk: Apparently not. It’s being hosted from Uzbekistan. Or Kazakhstan. One of the Stans, anyway.

& Luther: Justin, I think it’s time you moved on, mate. I mean, you should be doing my job. Having little Ripleys of your own.

& Ripley: Caitlin dies, he’s depressed, spends a bit of time in hospital. Then, all of a sudden — boom! He’s energized. Joins a gun club. Takes lessons in Krav Maga. Urban survival courses. It’s like he’s in training for the zombie apocalypse.

& Luther: You need to keep away from Mary. She’s off limits.
Stark: But what’s the point of knowing your weak spot if I don’t get a chance to... poke it a bit?

& Stark: You know your problem? You’ve spent your life thinking you’re the whirlwind. Well, you’re not. Because I’m the whirlwind, John. I’m the whirlwind.

& Tom Marwood: Two days. Give me two days, that’s all I need.
    Luther: For what?
    Marwood: To make things better.
Luther: You know I can’t do that, Tom.
Marwood: Yes you can... if you chose to.

& Ripley: So what is this, like a Derren Brown thing?
    Gray: ???
Ripley: Mind reader. Mentalist. Reads minds.

& Ripley: Do you want to talk about this properly?
    Gray: That’s why I’m here.
Ripley: No, I mean, properly. As actual human beings. A drink or something?

& Luther: This got my numbers on it?
Ripley: All six of them, yeah.
Luther: Who needs more than six numbers?

& Ripley: I had a visitor. Erin Grey.
Luther: Oh, yeah? She have problems parking her broomstick?

& Ripley: Bit of a tabloid nightmare. Went on to self-publish poems and essays about “inter-generational love.” Sees himself as a champion of freedom, ungoverned by religion or law.
Luther: Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. Lack of conscience dressed up as philosophy.

& Schenk: Do you understand social networking?
    Luther: No.
Schenk: Good. Then, I’m not alone.

& Luther: There’s nothing more potent than private pain made public.

Spartacus: You would strike at Rome itself?
Crixus: And would see it tremble.

& Crixus: Do you really believe that Crassus will stop once you crest the mountains? That the Republic will let us quietly slip away? We have shown them vulnerable. We have shown them that a trembling hand can become a fist. We have challenged the idea that a slave must always know his place, accepting rod and lash because he was taught to accept it. We built their mighty Republic! With our hands and our blood and our lives. And we can see it fall, at equal cost. You opened my eyes to this, Spartacus... Do not ask me now to close them.

& Jenna: You spend almost every day watching Wilfred. If we weren’t paying you, we’d be paying another dog sitter.
    Ryan: Dog sitter?!

& Wilfred: I had to create this sanctuary of stinking detritus. You don’t understand what it’s like at home right now... no crumbs, not even a grease smudge, everything smells Cloroxy. I just wish Jenna would stop hanging out with that anal, OCD clean-freak, Juanita!
Ryan: You mean the cleaning lady?

& Ryan: The truth is, I owe the bank $12,000 that I don’t have.
Wilfred: Okay, I don’t understand amounts, so I gather from your tone that that’s, like, awesome?

& Wilfred: Ryan, before you make a rash decision, there’s something you need to know about that woman... She has a bag of two-day-old egg rolls in her backpack.
Ryan: I’m going with Chris. You’re gonna have to get your gross fix somewhere else.
Wilfred: Gross fix? I am an Epicurean!

& Anne: I run a small Internet business.
    Ryan: Really?
Anne: Yeah, started it myself. Attracted investors, built up a user base.
Ryan: Wow. Is it media-related or more social networking?
Anne: Oh, people pay to watch me eat.
Ryan: So you’re, like, a food critic?
Anne: No. I just eat food on my webcam. It’s a great job, actually. I mean, I’m not naive. I realize that most of my clients are... you know... men, but... I love being my own boss. Basically, you get paid a shit-load of money to eat three meals a day.

& Ryan: This is torture. Anne came down this morning wearing only her nightshirt, sat on the living room chair and basically Sharon Stone’d me.

& Ryan: Wilfred, have you looked in the mirror lately?
Wilfred: Oh, yeah. There’s some new fat dog hanging out in there. I made fun of him yesterday for, like, three hours.
Ryan: That dog is you. You keep eating all the food Anne drops.
Wilfred: Me? Fat?! Is that why that dog in the mirror keeps saying such hurtful things?

& Ryan: Thank God. I got a job interview at Silverstein and Goldblatt.

& Ryan: You sabotaged my job interview!
Wilfred: You’re damn right I did! I will not stand idly... I will not stand... I will not sit idly by and let you kick Anne out.

& Wilfred: You ripped the horn off the unicorn, Ryan, because you wanted to make it a normal horse, but it’ll never be a normal horse, because now there’s that circular scab in its forehead.

& Wilfred: Of course it’s me, Bear. Who else would it be? ... Oh, what, you think I can’t talk and satisfy you at the same time? I’ve got to take a piss. Finish Bear off for me?..

The Company You Keep

& Jess: You’re late.
Ben: Well, if I’m not here they can’t fire me, right?

& Nick Sloan: You know, clearly you have some kind of an agenda here.
Ben: I don’t, actually... I don’t care much for either side.
Nick Sloan: So, what? That makes you fair and balanced?

& Nick Sloan: Somethin’ you love you should keep close to, you know?

& Sharon Solarz: You don’t have kids, do you?
Ben: No, I... I barely have furniture.

& Sharon Solarz: What about you? What are you willing to take a risk for?
    Ben: I don’t know. I know that I wouldn’t blow up a building. I wouldn’t kill anybody for anything.
Sharon Solarz: Yeah, well... dissent can be dicey. But you can’t get to my age without some regrets.

& Ben: Would you do it again?
Sharon Solarz: If... I didn’t have kids, and old parents that I love... Yeah, I would do it again. Smarter, better... different. But I’d do it, yeah. We made mistakes, but we were right.

& Sharon Solarz: Well, look at me. It doesn’t matter what I say, unless... I say it to somebody who’s interested in the truth. And it seems, as if you’re interested in the truth. Most people aren’t.

& Sharon Solarz: What are you gonna do?
    Ben: My job.

& Nick Sloan: That guy looks a little bit like Rick! Remember him? The roadie from Monterrey?
Donal: That IS Rick, the roadie from Monterrey.
Nick Sloan: Jesus... I thought he’d died.
Donal: We all died, some of us came back.

& McLeod: Aw, don’t give me that “capitalist dog” look. Goin’ legit has its advantages!
Mimi Lurie: Sure! As long as bankrupting people’s pension funds remains legit. And running good, honest weed remains... criminal?

& Ben: So, tell me about yourself.
Rebecca: Peace Corp for a bit, thought I was gonna change the world, decided it was actually people who needed changing, went back to school to study psychology, turns out psychology has nothing to do with that, ended up in New York, for a bit... I guess I thought I was gonna change myself, turns out I’m too stubborn.

& Jed Lewis: It’s ancient history to them. So they listen and clap, and then they update their Facebook statuses and they forget all about it.
Nick Sloan: We’ve turned into our parents, Jed.
Jed Lewis: Yeah, now we’re just a story told to children.
Nick Sloan: Well, I’m glad someone’s still telling it.

& Mimi Lurie: Well, the struggle doesn’t end just because you got tired of it.
Nick Sloan: I didn’t get tired of it, I grew up.
Mimi Lurie: We promised each other we weren’t going to do that!
Nick Sloan: Yeah, but it happened.

& Nick Sloan: Mimi, how free are you? Really?
Mimi Lurie: Well, I’m not in jail. I don’t expect you to understand.
    Nick Sloan: They have you.
Mimi Lurie: Oh, like hell. A system that protects the super-rich, and the super, super, super-rich, and fucks over everyone else, and the planet to boot.
Nick Sloan: Mimi... Mimi, would you just stop?
Mimi Lurie: Everyone who’s given up and given in, they’re living at the expense of what they once believed. It’s so sad!

& Nick Sloan: What are your memories, Mi?.. The ones you can’t run away from.

& Ben: So, where are you going?
Nick Sloan: Well, before she can not surrender, she has to first not get caught.
Ben: I don’t understand, there was an easier way.
Nick Sloan: Usually is. You’ll learn that lesson.

& Nick Sloan: Secrets are a dangerous thing, Ben. We all think we want to know them, but if you’ve kept one to yourself... You come to understand that doing so means that you may learn something about somebody else, but you also discover something about yourself. I hope you’re ready for that.

Stephen & Mia

Dates 1×7

& Stephen: Er, seeking strategic partnership. There’s a real shortage of those in Scotland.
Heidi: How do you usually go about that?
    Stephen: Adventurously.

& Stephen: ...I see.
    Heidi: You do?
    Stephen: I’m just, just listening.
Heidi: You’re pretty good at it.
Stephen: Well, it’s in a rather tightly focused group of things I’m actually competent at.

& Heidi: We’ll probably never see each other again after all.
Stephen: What happens in London, stays in London.
    Heidi: Er, nothing’s gonna happen.

& Stephen: I’m 40 years old. It smells of disappointment. Not for me, other people. But, erm, hey, I can still entertain.

& Heidi: You’d screw me... if you thought I’d let you, but you’re enough of a gentleman not to push it.
    Stephen: Correct. Reluctantly.

Good Morning, Mrs. Butterworth

Two and a Half Men 6×23

& Chelsea: You know how they say you can be alone but not lonely?
Charlie: Yeah. Well, Alan’s kind of the opposite. He’s always lonely but he’s never alone.

& Chelsea: Please? For me?
Charlie: Chelsea, we agreed that you only get one of those a month. Are you sure you want to waste it on Alan?

& Berta: What up, homes?
    Charlie: What are you doing?
Berta: Enjoying the sunset, waiting on dinner.
    Charlie: You’re staying for dinner?
Berta: I wasn’t gonna, but your lovely fiancé and her new gal pal insisted.
Charlie: Yeah, I’ve got to put a stop to that.
Berta: What are you, nuts? This is the perfect setup for you.
    Charlie: How do you figure?
Berta: Do you like to go shopping?
    Charlie: No.
Berta: Zippy does. Do you like to watch chick flicks?
    Charlie: No.
Berta: Zippy does. Do you like to talk for hours about your feelings?
    Charlie: No.
    Berta: Zippy do.
    Charlie: Oh, right.
Berta: He digs the trench, you lay the pipe.

Truth Be Told

Dexter 1×11

& Rudy: The message of my work is... not in the product itself, but rather the presentation.

& Debra: Wine and Valium? I’ll be totally helpless.
    Rudy: You read my mind.

& Debra: He’s been acting weird lately. Last night he said we need to talk.
    Dexter: Well, that’s never good.

& Debra: He sent me this text message.
Dexter: “Cum sail away with me?..” He misspelled “come.”

& Laura Moser: Close your eyes, Dexter. Don’t look.

& Dexter: Some people are meant to be alone, right?
    Angel: Dex, socio, alone sucks.

& Rudy: Debra Morgan... Will you marry me?
Debra: I knew it! I fucking knew it!!
Rudy: Is that your version of a “yes”?

& Debra: Big brother. I let it go to voice mail. He can wait till we’re done here.
Rudy: Good. I want you all to myself. So... let the toasting begin. To... what comes next.

Erica & Callum

Dates 1×6

& Callum: Are you Erica?
    Erica: Yeah?
    Callum: I’m your date!

& Callum: Smartphones. Magic, eh? A few years ago we had no way of telling that you’re wrong and I’m right.
    Erica: Yeah...

& Callum: The food is extraordinary. But, um, you cannae trust them.
    Erica: Who?
Callum: I’m no racist, right? But to them we’re just imperialist pig dogs. They’ll screw you over as soon as look at you.
    Erica: Right, er... They?

& Callum: Cannae mess about with these people. Tiananmen Square, man. Look it up.

& Callum: So tell me about yourself. You’re in PR, no?
    Erica: Er, yeah.
Callum: PR, man... Public Relations. Way I see it, the public don’t need relating to. The time for relating is over. All this fucking X Factor bollocks. The public need a smack up the bracket, wake the fuckers up.
Erica: Yeah. I just try to sell them perfume...

& Callum: Well, let me tell you... looking out for folk is overrated. It’s a mug’s game. Only you can decide who you are, what you do, who you fuck, whatever. I’ve thought long and hard about this because people used to try and tell me what to do. “Callum, stop doing that. Callum, don’t go in there. Callum, she’s too young for you...” Eventually I thought, “Ah, fuck off!” Cos nobody gets to tell you or anybody what to do. It’s the only law we’ve got. No matter how they make you feel, no matter how good the advice seems, never let anyone ever, ever, ever tell you what to do. Ever.

& Callum: Zero tolerance, love. The name of the game.

& Erica: Why do all your stories involve balls?
Callum: I don’t know. But they do, eh?

& Erica: So where are you on this continuum, hmm? From one to ten — one being straight as a line, ten... as gay as Christmas.

& Callum: You’re not a ten. You’re not even a nine, or an eight. I’d say... you’re a solid six.
Erica: Six?! So, what, that’s... one above bisexual?

& Erica: Er, listen...
Callum: No, no, you listen. I’ve been on a lot of dates with a lot of girls...
    Erica: Really?!
Callum: Well, two, including this one, and the other so-called “girl” turned out to be... That doesn’t matter. What matters is that you had a chance to go and you never took that.

& Erica: Callum?
Callum: Let me tell you something, missy... I may be an arrogant Scottish twat, but at least I’ve got my self-respect! This oh-so-meek bollocks may fool your brother, but it doesnae fool me! You’re just a scared wee girl, who doesn’t know who she is or what she’s doing.
    Erica: No, I... I’m not...
Callum: I might be arrogant, but I’m also a beautiful, flawed, multi-faceted, complex individual with a lot of love to give, and you’re... just a ghost. A big, gay ghost, who thinks that I’m arrogant, and doesn’t fancy me!

& Callum: Never surrender! Zero tolerance!

& Callum: No, Erica, if you’re going to be a lesbian, you’ve got to grow a pair...

Spring Breakers

& Pastor: I’m gonna read from I Corinthians 10:13. It says, “But when you are tempted... He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” How cool is that?.. Dudes, how cool is that? It’s awesome. Do you feel what that says? That’s very temptation He’s gonna give you a way out.

& Brit: Just pretend it’s a video game. Like you’re in a fucking movie.

& Faith: Know what would be really cool?.. If we could freeze life. Like if we could just... click it... and freeze it and say... this is the way it’s gonna be forever. Like have this moment together forever.

& Faith: I’m starting to think this is the most spiritual place I’ve ever been.

& Alien: Bikini’s and big booties — that’s what it’s all about.

& Alien: Y’all be careful of that water. Lots of sharks out there. And the water looks real pretty, but the sharks are waitin’. Bunch of vicious motherfuckers. Just lurking. Just lurking. Lurking.

& Brit: I think that’s the secret to life — being a good person.

& Faith: Grandma. It was really great. I think we found ourselves here. We finally got to see some other parts of the world. We saw some beautiful things here. Things we’ll never forget. We got to let loose. God, I can’t believe how many new friends we made. Friends from all over the place. I mean everyone was so sweet here. So warm and friendly. I know we made friends that will last us a lifetime. We met people who are just like us. People the same as us. Everyone was just trying to find themselves. It was way more than just having a good time. We see things different now. More colors, more love, more understanding. God, it’s so nice to get a break from my uni for a little while. I know we have to go back to school, but we’ll always remember this trip. Something so amazing, magical. Something so beautiful. Feels as if the world is perfect. Like it’s never gonna end.

Σ Funny pair came out together with the Triangle.

Luther 3×2

& Mary: I can’t remember the last time I did this. Just stayed up all night talking.
Luther: I mainly stay up all night shouting.

& Luther: The thing about love is that it brings out the best in you, but it can also bring out the worst. All your fears, rage, self-doubt. Don’t mess around with it. It’ll blow up in your face.

& Benny: What am I looking for exactly?
Luther: Well, whenever you get that feeling that you know something’s quit not right, but you’re not sure what it is, look for that.

& Stark: “The first principle is that you must not fool yourself. And you are the easiest person to fool... Richard Feynman.” Meep! Meep!

& William Carney: If you can’t get steak, you have to settle for hamburger. Never quite as satisfying, though. Less tender cuts of meat.

& Luther: Well, go on... Say something.
    Paul: .... Argh!

& Gray: What are you doing, John?
    Luther: It’s DCI Luther, actually.

& Luther: You can continue if you want. Chase me down. But if you take me down... I’ll take you down even faster and even harder.
Ω So f%ck’d up. Pity.

& Mary: I’m not a game player.

    President Asher: Kiss ass.
Margaret Asher: Well, I love you both but I am going with the long.

& Agent Jones: You’ve heard of Mike Banning, haven’t you?
Agent Davis: Yeah, yeah. The guy who told the Speaker of the House to go fuck himself.

& Forbes: There is a reason I never voted for you.

& Secret Service Director Lynn Jacobs: Mr. President?
    Mike: Negative.

& Speaker Trumbull: Mary, get me some coffee Half-and-half, three Sweet ’N Lows. In a real cup. Not one of those paper or Styrofoam things. All right. Let’s secure all nuclear sites.

& Speaker Trumbull: I want to speak to the Russians, the Chinese, the British, and the French. And then I want a press conference. In that order.

& Jacobs: Is he alive?
Mike: Ask me a serious question.

& General Clegg: How do we know we can trust the information?
Mike: I just asked them nicely.

& Mike: Why don’t you and I play a game of fuck off? You go first.

& Kang: There’s a saying... in Korea. Seeing something a 100 times... is not as good as living it once.

& General Clegg: I am giving you a direct order!
Mike: Newsflash, asshole. I don’t work for you.

& Kang: I will send the president out... one piece at a time.
Mike: It won’t matter. Because whatever you think you accomplished you won’t be alive to see it.
