The Laureate Accumulation

The Big Bang Theory 12×18

President Siebert: Who needs to be likable when you have Nobel Laureates campaigning for you?
Sheldon: Oh, yeah-- wait a minute. Do you not think we're likable?
President Siebert: That's what's great about you, you never stop asking the tough questions.

Sheldon: I was jealous, angry and new to Twitter. It was a dangerous combination.

Amy: We need them on our side, but unfortunately, Sheldon...
Penny: No. "Unfortunately, Sheldon..." that's all you got to say.

Penny: They're pretty smart. Don't you think they're gonna realize it's just a bribe?
Sheldon: No, you'd think, but sometimes brilliant people can be painfully oblivious to social cues.
Penny: ... Thank you for pointing that out, Sheldon.
Sheldon: Anytime.

Sheldon: Oh, he arranged the cookies to spell out "thank you..."
Amy: ... Sheldon, that word isn't "thank."

Howard: The Frightened Little Astronaut?
Raj: That looks just like you!.. Look how tiny and scared you look.

Penny: Okay, what did he say that was so insulting?
Amy: Well, he may have suggested there was an inelegance to the quadrupole normalization of Smoot's data.
Penny: .... Damn!

Sheldon: Sometimes I wish I could invent a time machine, so I could go back and prevent myself from acting so rashly.
Leonard: Or moving forward, you could think before you speak.
Sheldon: I suppose so.
Leonard: But the time machine thing is probably more likely.

Stuart: Bernadette said you weren't crazy about the book.
Howard: No. It's great. I just don't want anyone to ever see it or read it or know it exists.

Penny: Okay, look, Sheldon's a pain in the ass. But Dr. Fowler's really nice. So if you average them out-- math...

Howard: It's a children's book. I mean, cats don't wear hats. And if someone gives you green eggs, it ends with you on the toilet trying to make a deal with God.

Bernadette: I guess it would just take a really brave man to put an embarrassing story like that out into the world, just so it might help some frightened children not feel so alone.
Howard: Wow. That is quite the guilt trip... Are you sure you're not Jewish?
Bernadette: I'm just a wife that is so proud of her husband, and doesn't think that he has anything to be embarrassed about.
Howard: Oh. You're sounding less and less Jewish.

First Man (2018)

Deke Slayton: Why do you think spaceflight's important?
Neil Armstrong: I had a few, uh, opportunities in the X-15 to observe the atmosphere. It was so thin, such a small part of the Earth you could barely see it at all. And when you're down here in the crowd and you look up, it... It looks pretty big and you don't think about it too much, but... When you get a different vantage point, it changes your perspective.

Neil Armstrong: ... I don't know what space exploration will uncover, but I don't think it'll be exploration just for the sake of exploration. I think it'll be more the fact that it allows us to see things. That maybe we should have seen a long time ago. But just haven't been able to until now.

Neil Armstrong: I got it.
Janet Armstrong: It's a fresh start.
Neil Armstrong: Are you sure?
Janet Armstrong: ... Yeah. It'll be an adventure...

Deke Slayton: Jan, you have to trust us. We've got this under control.
Janet Armstrong: No, you don't. All these protocols and procedures to make it seem like you have it under control. But you're a bunch of boys making models out of balsa wood. You don't have anything under control!

Janet Armstrong: I married Neil 'cause I wanted a normal life... He was just so different from all the other boys on campus. He'd been through the war... He knew what he wanted to do. He just seemed so stable. I guess all I wanted was stability...
Pat White: I've got a sorority sister with a normal life. She married a dentist.
Janet Armstrong: Dentist. Sounds good.
Pat White: He's home by 6:00 every night. And every few months, she calls to say she wishes he weren't...

Deke Slayton: The damn thing could've killed you!
Neil Armstrong: Well, it didn't.
Deke Slayton: A split second more and you would not be...
Neil Armstrong: Well, we need to fail. We need to fail down here, so we don't fail up there.
Bob Gilruth: Okay, Neil, Neil. At what cost, huh? At what cost?
Neil Armstrong: Well, it's a little bit late for that question, isn't it, sir?

Rick Armstrong: Mom, what's wrong?
Janet Armstrong: Nothing, honey... Your dad's going to the Moon.
Rick Armstrong: Okay... Can I go outside?
Janet Armstrong: Sure.

Janet Armstrong: What are the chances you're not coming back?

Janet Armstrong: Pat doesn't have a husband. Those kids, they don't have a father anymore. Do you understand what that means?... What are the chances that's gonna be Ricky and Mark? And I... I can't tell 'em that their dad spent the last few minutes packing his briefcase!... You're gonna sit 'em down. And you're gonna prepare them for the fact that you might not ever come home. You're doing that. You. Not me. I'm done. So you better start thinking about what you're gonna say...

Rick Armstrong: Do you think you're coming back?
Neil Armstrong: We have real confidence in the mission. And, uh, there are some risks, but we have every intention of coming back.
Rick Armstrong: But you might not.
Neil Armstrong: .... That's right.

Bob Gilruth: "Fate has ordained that the men who went to the Moon to explore in peace will stay on the Moon to rest in peace. These brave men, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know there is no hope for their recovery. They will be mourned by their families. They will be mourned by a Mother Earth that dared send two of her sons into the unknown. For every human being who looks up at the Moon in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever mankind." Prior to the statement, President will telephone each of the widows-to-be. A clergyman will adopt the same procedure as a burial at sea, commending their souls to the deepest of the deep... Any thoughts?
Deke Slayton: Sounds fine.

Neil Armstrong: The Eagle is undocked.
Charles Duke: Roger. How does it look?
Neil Armstrong: The Eagle has wings.

Neil Armstrong: Program alarm.
Buzz Aldrin: What's a 1202 alarm?
Neil Armstrong: I don't know. Houston, give us a reading on the 1202 program alarm.
Charles Duke: Roger, we got you. We're a go on that alarm.

Buzz Aldrin: Program alarm 1201.
Charles Duke: Roger. 1201 alarm. Same type. We're go.

Neil Armstrong: Houston, Tranquility Base here... The Eagle has landed.
Charles Duke: Roger, Tranquility. We copy on the ground. You got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We're breathing again. Thanks a lot.

Neil Armstrong: I'm gonna step off the LEM now... That's one small step for man... one giant leap for mankind.

The Seventh Layer

You're the Worst 3×9

Vernon: Let's do a bunch of fun shit. First we got to get a Blizzard. You put some rum in it, you call it a rizzard. If you put gin in it, gizzard.
Paul: Put wine in it, it's a wizard.
Vernon: Yes! See? This is what it's all about, family hang, making mad jokes, dicking around... So boss! I love it, I really do.

Vernon: Nah, I can't get sick. To build my immune system, I lick weird stuff at the hospital all the time.

Vernon: I swear you can taste each individual flavor in these seven-layer dip Blammos... One, beans. Two, cheese. Three, guac. Four, sour cream. Five, salsa. Six, black olives... What's the seventh layer in a seven-layer dip? Why can't I remember? Come on, brain!...

Paul: Father was a kind soul, but he just wanted to sit quietly and rest his eyes.

Vernon: Hey. out in nature, away from the sisters Cottumaccio.
Paul: Ugh. What a sonically displeasing last name.
Vernon: Isn't it? They're lucky to take our dope-ass names.

Paul: Never thought squirrel could be so delicious.
Vernon: Nuts are high in protein and fat. Makes for tender flesh... People forget I'm a doctor and I know shit.

Vernon: We just killed, like, a million of our babies.

Vernon: I know I mess around a lot, and I like to have fun, and Becca thinks I'm a baby, but I'm really a good person with a good heart.
Paul: I know you are.
Vernon: And I believe there is someone out there who will love me. Hopefully a Mexican hottie with big naturals.

Paul: By the way, traditionally the seventh layer can be anything. It can be ground beef, shredded lettuce, green onion, jalapeños... It's up to whoever makes it. Whatever makes them happy.

Maigret in Montmartre (2017)

Maigret (2017) 2×2

CI Jules Maigret: It was my mother's. I made it for her, when I was at school.
Madame Maigret: You made it? As in you made it?.. Inspector, we're impressed.
CI Jules Maigret: It's for putting things in, fairly obviously. Special things.

Madame Maigret: Well, that's something we don't do often enough... Surprise each other.

CI Jules Maigret: ... And I let her stumble out of here in the middle of the night, drunk.
Inspector Janvier: Then we'd better find the bugger responsible.
CI Jules Maigret: I'm who's responsible. But I'm going to find the man who killed her.

CI Jules Maigret: Curious. There are objects of value here. Glass. Porcelain. Ivory. But no food. No means of cooking it or eating it. Nothing to sustain life.
Dr. Paul: Welcome to the wonderful world of morphine.

Mme. Aubin: When I was told what had happened I sent for him. He should be here any minute. Bloch his name is. A Jew, of course, but perfectly pleasant...

CI Jules Maigret: Why don't you come with us, back to my office? Have a cup of coffee...
Dr. Bloch: I don't quite understand what's happening. Are you arresting me?
CI Jules Maigret: I'm merely asking you if you want a cup of coffee, Doctor. One thing at a time.

CI Jules Maigret: This is your one chance to answer questions in a civilized environment. I would urge you to concentrate...

CI Jules Maigret: What?
Inspector Janvier: You spend the night sitting in a club with a bunch of showgirls. I spend the night in the cold looking for a rent boy.
CI Jules Maigret: That's the chain of command.

Betty: Yeah, you're married. You have that look. What's the word?
CI Jules Maigret: Contented?
Betty: Stricken.

Mme. Dussardier: The first duty of a lady is gaiety. She must be able and willing to sing, dance, play the piano. In her conversation, she must scintillate... That is what I was taught. What I was not taught was how to sew. It was not appropriate. And yet here I am, taking business into my own house. A seamstress.

CI Jules Maigret: Why did you lie to me, Fred?
Fred Alfonsi: OK. Nitty-gritty. What exactly did I lie about?

Kevin: Do we really have to do it this way? I mean, this just takes forever.
Zoe: Yeah, but you actually get to taste the coffee this way. Here, try it...
Kevin: Mmm... Oh, my gosh! It-it tastes like coffee.
Zoe: Shut up. You know it tastes better.
Kevin: It does.

Kevin: Come here. I want to see if pour-over coffee breath is better than regular coffee breath.

Rebecca: Siri, how do you spell "bradycardia"?

Jack: Okay, well, you can... we can watch it tomorrow.
Randall: But it's due back to Blockbuster tomorrow.
Jack: Well, we'll just, we'll re-rent it, pal. Blockbuster's not going anywhere.

Kevin: Ew. What is this?
Jack: Corn sandwiches. I used to eat these all the time before I met your mom.
Kevin: You're really lucky you met her.

Kevin: You know, this whole idea of not really knowing who you are deep down inside, that's my life story. .... One thing that I have learned, um... I don't think we figure out exactly who we are all at once. I think it happens over a long period of time, just, like, piece by piece, you know? .... I think we go through this life slowly but surely, just collecting these little pieces of ourselves that we can't really live without until, you know, eventually, we have enough of them to where we... we feel whole.

Deja: Well... you're not the only one in the world who can drag somebody on a long car ride just to give them a big speech at a meaningful location.

Deja: Nobody ever won at that house. 'Cause most people don't win, Randall. But you did. You won the lottery. You won it twice. Once when you got adopted and again when you met Beth.

Deja: You owe it to the world... that let you win the lottery twice.

Kevin: She used to do this thing, she would... she would write these really dumb jokes on the, the banana peels of the bananas that she would pack for our lunches... when we were kids... did I ever tell you that?... Uh, five days a week. Three jokes. Every day, I mean... that's... that's next-level, right?

Kevin: I guess all I'm saying is, I think sometimes, you know, people think they know what they want... but then time goes by and things just, they change.

Randall: I had a nightmare about Mom. She looked like Freddy Krueger and her face was wrapped in bandages.
Kevin: And then he woke us up and told us all about it and freaked us out.

Kate: I want my son to... grow up with the Rebecca Pearson-level magic, too.

Zoe: You should be a dad, Kevin. You... you should raise 500 perfectly symmetrical kids. You'll be amazing at it.

Jack: You know, we, we don't really work too good without her. You know, it's... It's like a car. You know, um, you-you got your... your antilock brakes, your suspension, your-your exhaust pipes. But, you see, my wife, she's-she's the engine. And the rest of us, we're-we're s... Well, we're useless without the engine. Do you... do you understand what I'm saying?

Beth: We don't work when we're apart. But, together... baby, together, we set the world on fire.

Peppe: Eva, how do you know if you're in love?
Eva: Why are you asking me?
Peppe: You study these things.
Eva: I'll tell you. If you talk to her for 30 minutes a day, you're in love.
Peppe: What if I talk for 60 minutes?
Eva: Then you're madly in love.
Lele: Then you stop talking, which means you're married.

Eva: We're too different.
Bianca: Like a PC and a Mac.
Peppe: And what are men?
Eva: A PC, obviously. Cheap, they pick up viruses, and only do one thing at a time. ...
Bianca: And women are Macs. Intuitive, fast, elegant.
Cosimo: Expensive and compatible only among themselves.
Bianca: Yes, but they're addictive too.

Eva: Cosimo's right, you do have to be careful. We have everything in here. It's the black box of our lives. How many couples would split up if they looked at each other's phones...

Eva: So you're saying that none of us has a secret? .... Let's play a game then.
Cosimo: What kind of game?
Eva: We'll find out... Come on, we'll all put our phones on the table.
Carlotta: Then what?
Eva: While we're eating, texts, WhatsApp messages, calls, whatever arrives, we share it... We don't have any secrets.
Lele: What sort of game is that?
Bianca: It might be fun...

Rocco: I've learn something important.
Eva: What's that?
Rocco: How to defuse.
Eva: Meaning?
Rocco: Not to turn every argument into a fight for supremacy. I don't believe it's weak to be the one to give in. In fact, I think it's wise. The only couples I see who last are those where one of the two... manages to take a step back, but is really a step ahead.

Peppe: These things are ruining our lives! They're taking our private lives away from us. And we're allowing them to, day after day, without realizing it.

Peppe: It could be predictive text...

Ezekiel: It's knowing when to keep fighting and knowing when it's over. If only for now...

Ezekiel: Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once. They were the valiant.

Carol: Every time I look at her, all I see is him.
Daryl: Who do you see when you look at me?

Michonne: Welcome to the Sanctuary.

Negan: I mean, we've got ourselves this hot little love quadrangle here to entertain us. It's like Christmas to me.

Negan: Gabe, your girl's doc is also your girl's baby daddy, which kind of begs the question... Do you ever wonder what the hell was going on in there when she has her "appointments"?

Eugene: The chimney flue is completely gunkified. What singed your nostrils earlier was no doubt a toxic mixture of creosote and H2O. Blizzard's done some tearing and blaring. And our chimney's ventilation capabilities are nil to none. It'd be unwise to spark up another blaze lest we plan on ceasing all respiratory functions, a.k.a. smoking and choking.
Negan: God, I missed you, Eugene.

Lydia: I don't know. I just know I can't cross that river.
Carol: Why not?
Lydia: Because I know what's on the other side. It's the same thing that's on this side.

Negan: I know why you're doing this. You're just trying to get a little extra Negan time, aren't you?

Negan: Can I tell you something, kid? That dog, he better poop little golden nuggets. You know what I'm saying?
Judith: Your leg looks like shit.
Negan: Language, Miss Grimes.

Jerry: It's like our new Kingdom, only it's Hilltop. Hey, if we call it "Kingtop," maybe we could make that a thing.

Ezekiel: We made it.
Carol: Did we?

Michonne: You always did have a flair for the dramatic.
Negan: Well, last time we were here together, Rick had just slit my throat open. So this... Hell, this ain't nothin'.

Ezekiel: When the snow melts and the winds quiet, who knows what glorious summer may bring...

You're the Worst 3×8

Gretchen: Are you firing me? You don't fire me. I fire you. Okay. Wait. Uh, let's compromise. Uh... if I fix my friends and prove that I'm right about my mom, do you promise not to fire me?
Justina: I'm not firing you. That is not a compromise. And I don't agree to any of it.
Gretchen: Great. Deal.

Jimmy: Gretchen, feeding the giraffe and washing the rhinoceri exercises everything that a writer needs for a productive day: problem solving, imagination, word having...

Paul: Oh, my God, Lindsay. Did you know that every time you evacuate your bowels, you lose one-third...
Lindsay: Almost there!
Paul: ...of the bacteria...
Lindsay: I'm almost there!
Paul: ...in your body.
Lindsay: Goddamn it!!

Lindsay: I just want to be normal and cheat on my husband without feeling guilty about it.

Gretchen: .... And don't you come back without results, young lady, or else no Must See TV for you!
Lindsay: Why are you being so bossy?
Gretchen: Not bossy, Lindsay. Maternal.

Gretchen: So you're wasting your most valuable resource...
Edgar: My talent?
Gretchen: ...your time, for no reason. Edgar, this has potential. ... But just because you got your period at 11 does not make you a woman!

Paul: Boy. Now I'm embarrassed by my prudishness. Well, if this is an established, rudimentary fetish, then I suppose I am up for the challenge... I'm going to research this fantasy of yours. You'll see. I'll be the best cuck ever. For our family.
Lindsay: Family.

Gretchen: Honey... you're doing great. Now, if you don't get back out there, we are not stopping for milkshakes on the way home!

Paul: Raul... Raul's friend. Good day. You may take what you want.

Vernon: So, Jimmy, are you in a good place right now?

Jimmy: So, if I'm not writing, because I have no one to write against anymore... who am I?

Gretchen: Hey! If I quit every time my mother pushed me to do something hard, I wouldn't have... I-I... Okay, well, I guess I did quit eventually to start doing drugs and having unprotected sex with college boys. But the point...

Jimmy: Turns out I've been living my entire life in opposition to my father. And now that he's dead, I have no idea who I really am. Am I even a writer? Who knows? Maybe I'm meant to be a master carpenter, slash tree house architect, slash singer-songwriter...

Gretchen: Ugh, what is that?! Order mozzarella sticks like a person!

Billions 4×3

Wendy: It'll be like the old water torture... Drip, drip, drip.
Wagner Wags: Like the Japanese in W.W.II. Even though the Chinese invented it...
Wendy: No they didn't.
Wagner Wags: Then why is it called 'Chinese Water Torture?' .....
Hall: She's right, you know. The Chinese didn't invent it.
Wendy: Hippolytus de Marsiliis did, an Italian.

Bobby Axelrod: Bill... what's your level of certainty?
Dollar Bill: I am not uncertain.

Chuck Rhoades: Regrettable. But like all men of consequence, we put it aside to move forward toward our common goal.

Taylor: This is my shop.
Douglas Mason: Not much to it, is there? Don't places like these usually spend buckets of money on nice digs to impress their clients?
Taylor: You don't want to seem gilded. Highlight the brain power instead. Clean. Simple. Direct. That's how we make an impression now.

Chuck Rhoades: Porter... "This city desert
makes you feel so cold.
It's got so many people,
but it's got no soul."
Remember that.

Hall: Most people who want privacy in this city have privacy glass. If they don't, they have their windows treated.

Hall: I have this... It's Israeli. It uses a spatial light modulator, and that allows me to take pictures that people don't want me to take.
Wagner Wags: Very handy.
Hall: The Israelis do not fuck around when it comes to their spy equipment...
Bobby Axelrod: But why is it in your hands instead of set up taking goddamned pictures?
Hall: Oh, it is. This one's for personal use.

Bobby Axelrod: ...find a way to motivate that person in our direction. Otherwise your chicken business will consist of you asking: you want original recipe or extra fucking crispy?

Wagner Wags: Wiki me up to speed.

Wagner Wags: I always forget you can do the math.
Bobby Axelrod: What can't I do?
Wagner Wags: Field surgery?
Bobby Axelrod: Keep talking, we'll find out.

Douglas Mason: See? You put the spoon on the bottom; it's harder than the fork.
Taylor: Only one point of contact with the surface as opposed to a full line.
Douglas Mason: Harder.

Dollar Bill: I got a solution to our chicken problem... A final solution.

Rhoades, Sr.: You hide in shame now and people will wonder what other weaknesses and depravities there are to discover... You'll get up here, wear a nice suit, put your arm around that pretty wife, smile big and face the people.

Bobby Axelrod: Bill. Bill, what are you about to do?
Dollar Bill: What I always do for you: whatever I have to.

Wagner Wags: You intend to kill a few hundred thousand chickens?
Dollar Bill: They're getting killed anyway. This just accelerates the process, that's all.

Wagner Wags: ...Or else we're all in Contagion: Gwyneth Paltrow dead on the gurney and Matt Damon as the last living man on earth.

Dollar Bill: It's not okay! I'm the guy who delivers!!
Bobby Axelrod: Yeah. Most of the time, you are. But, and I can't believe I'm fucking saying this: we can't all be right all of the time. Sometimes... you just gotta take a loss.

Wagner Wags: It's a Sicilian message.
Bobby Axelrod: It's a Kappa Mu Epsilon message. They knew they were being watched.

Bobby Axelrod: I think they're the one hunting. For something bigger... The Treaty of Versailles.

Taylor: ...you aren't able to operate freely either. You're planning attacks. Then defending from a response. Let's stop. Not waste ourselves on each other. Our time and energy are too valuable.

Taylor: Can I trust you on this?
Bobby Axelrod: You're the fucking genius, figure it out.

Rhoades, Sr.: It's incredible. He's never stopped. He's never let his audience down. Never quit on them. And they never quit on him, either. Some are built that way. The rest of them quit or die... That's the way a legend oughta be. That's the way a legend oughta be...
Chuck Rhoades: I'll never quit.
Rhoades, Sr.: I'll never die.

Rhoades, Sr.: Don't worry about all these motherfuckers, my boy. Just stay standing. Longer than the next guy. And the guy after that. Do whatever you need to do to outlast him. If he loses... you win, son.

Bobby Axelrod: Willingness to fraternize with the depraved... Powerful weapon.
Chuck Rhoades: Oh. You have to be willing.
Bobby Axelrod: Yeah. 'Cause someone else out there certainly is.

Bobby Axelrod: You want me to help put you in the State Attorney General's office...
Chuck Rhoades: I do.
Bobby Axelrod: Last time you were a lawman, it wasn't so good for me.
Chuck Rhoades: This time it'll be different.
Bobby Axelrod: You sure about that? I've seen a lot of Westerns. A man changes when he puts on that star...

Chuck Rhoades: Favors reap favors. And I'm sure there's a favor or two I could help you with.

цитаты | Стивен Кинг | На подъеме | illness | lesbian | small town | new england

Christopher Robin (2018)

Winnie The Pooh: Where are we going, Christopher Robin?
Christopher Robin: Nowhere. One of my favorite places.

Christopher Robin: What I like doing best is nothing.
Winnie The Pooh: How do you do nothing?
Christopher Robin: It's when people call out... "What are you going to do, Christopher Robin?" And you say, "Oh, nothing." And then you go ahead and do it.
Winnie The Pooh: Ah, yes.
Christopher Robin: Doing nothing often leads to the very best something.

Giles Winslow: Do you have dreams, Robin?... I'll let you into a little secret. Dreams don't come for free, Robin. Nothing comes from nothing.

Christopher Robin: Look, if I work really hard now, then in the future... our life will be...
Evelyn Robin: Will be what? Will be better? Worse? We don't care, we want you. This is life, Christopher. This weekend is your life. Your life is happening now. Right in front of you.

Christopher Robin: It's stress.
Winnie The Pooh: It's not stress. It's Pooh.

Christopher Robin: I should be working. Trying to find a solution. Even though I think it may be impossible.
Winnie The Pooh: People say nothing is impossible. But I do nothing every day.

Christopher Robin: You can't just take a teddy bear from a grown man!

Christopher Robin: What're you doing, Pooh?
Winnie The Pooh: Sometimes when I'm going somewhere and I wait... a somewhere comes to me.

Christopher Robin: Oh, it's still here. Hundred Acre Wood...

Christopher Robin: Well, the thing is to do this systematically.
Winnie The Pooh: Follow the simple honey bee.
Christopher Robin: No, Pooh. The key is to head in just one direction to avoid getting lost. Especially in all this fog.
Winnie The Pooh: I always get to where I'm going... by walking away from where I have been.
Christopher Robin: Do you?
Winnie The Pooh: That's the way I do it.

Christopher Robin: You mustn't give up, Eeyore! I'll save you.
Eeyore: We'll see...

Christopher Robin: Come on, Eeyore. Let's get to the bottom of this.
Eeyore: I'm already at the bottom.

Christopher Robin: Well, I think we should investigate.
Eeyore: I wouldn't go in there if I was us.

Owl: Don't you worry. As my old Uncle Orville used to say... "Worry is the way to concern." Or is it, "Concern is the way to confusion?"
Eeyore: You're the way to confusion.

Winnie The Pooh: And the game is called, "Say What You See." You first, Piglet.
Piglet: Panic. Worry. Catastrophe.
Tigger: Speed! Danger! Recklessness!
Eeyore: Disgrace. Shame. Humiliation.

Christopher Robin: Eeyore, this is Evelyn, my wife.
Eeyore: Hello, Evelyn my wife.
Evelyn Robin: Hello, talking donkey, how are you doing today?
Eeyore: Don't get me started.

Winnie The Pooh: Christopher Robin. What day is it?
Christopher Robin: It's today.
Winnie The Pooh: My favorite day.
Christopher Robin: Mine too, Pooh. Mine, too.
Winnie The Pooh: Yesterday, when it was tomorrow... it was too much day for me.

The Greatest Story Ever Told

American Gods 2×4

The Father: Listen.
The Son: I know Bach.
The Father: Listen... He'd only just returned from a trip to find that his wife had died. Bach had already lost three children. He would lose seven more. This is grief. And yet... The rising notes of joy... shattering his own rules. Can you hear it?... This is how men like me pray.

Mr. Ibis: Coroners are a political appointment around here. His job is to kick the corpse. If it doesn't kick him back, he signs the death certificate. I'm what they call a prosector.

Mr. Wednesday: Only humans could've come up with monogamy, an unnatural concept. Enjoy your life, my boy. Fuck it, embrace it, exercise neither temperance nor restraint, and leave the past where it belongs: in the past.

Shadow Moon: What's in St. Louis?
Mr. Wednesday: Big city, big money. ... Money is the most influential god in America. Untouchable asshole, but his stock never falls.

Mr. Wednesday: .... this isn't actually a piece of paper; it's a story. And the story that you've heard over and over and over again. And it's been drummed into you that this is worth something. This is of value. No matter what country, culture, or religion. The whole world loves... money. The greatest story ever told.

Mr. Wednesday: So, Money. We get him on our side, Mr. World won't mean shit.

Shadow Moon: Don't you work in Wisconsin?
Mama-Ji: I am at every Motel America. Entrepreneurship is not some picnic.
Mr. Wednesday: Mama-Ji and her followers own more than half the motels in America.
Mama-Ji: And we don't achieve this by sitting on our asses or grifting about like this one.

Mama-Ji: You think America was eager to hand over her money bags to the hungry, the tired, and the poor? We battle for every goddamn scrap.
Mr. Wednesday: You love it.
Mama-Ji: Victory is sweet on the tongue, and profit is sweet on the pocket.
Mr. Wednesday: But you miss the real battles, don't you Kali, eh? The screams and the cries... I recall the day you slew Raktabija. The only sound that day was the whisper of the wind whistling through the blood-soaked grass.
Mama-Ji: We had a good time, huh?

Mr. Nancy: Egyptians told tales of the sacred Book of Thoth, which contains the secrets of the Gods and brings misery, pain, and suffering to anyone who reads it.
Mr. Ibis: And grants a bird's-eye view to He... Who writes it.

Mr. Nancy: You ever notice how traveling makes your mind roll thunder, like a train moving down the track? Except you don't know where the fuck that mind train is headed. And then, all of a sudden, plop... an idea shits in your head. And you think that shit smells good... Peace is a beautiful but shitty idea.

Mr. Nancy: I am not a God in the sense that I can tolerate exploitation, oppression, and repression. My worshippers know freedom ain't free. They know the most potent weapon of control for the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. They know slavery is not a condition. Slavery is a cult. Human trafficking is a cult.

Mr. Ibis: We have lived long enough to know these troubles are timeless. Suffering is not sacred.
Bilquis: And moral law is final. Sooner or later they all lay before me. War need not be the answer.

Technical Boy: Argus was a relic, a desiccating, necrotising, geriatric, organic sack of redundancies. CCTV? Fuck that noise! I fart out a coltan-encased microchip in cherry pink and they line up for miles. Miles! To carry trackers, give up their locations, bank numbers, fucking facial IDs! An endless catalogue of every fuck, every bite, every disgusting nose hair. Every dirty little secret. Every whisper they thought no one could hear...

Mr. Wednesday: No debit, no credit. Oh, so, no debit, no credit. Not even a fucking car loan? What are you, some off-the-grid freak?... Do you know how much Money hates that?

Bilquis: He was not content. He was a rebel, a troublemaker. They say He died for your sins, but that is not the truth. He died because He angered the men in power. He refused to be cowed... controlled. And now look at the power He wields, the worship He commands. He was onto something.

Mr. World: There isn't a need to purchase candy. I retired a God today.

Mr. World: Have you seen what's happened to the world? It isn't 5s, 10s, or 20s anymore. It isn't cash or gold. It's zeros and ones, digitized and encrypted, sent down fiber-optic cables at the speed of light to accounts at banks with no physical location.
Mr. Wednesday: ... Money loves profit. And war is always profitable. It also moves people more than anything else. It inflames their passions, something you would know nothing about. And the more passionate they get, the more they spend, spend, spend. You know that, Money.

Mr. World: You sit at the crossing of two rivers, waiting for a steamship that will never come. Your kind aren't dying; they're dead.

The Bookkeeper: I'm honored to have the big dogs in the God game begging at my table. But money doesn't make emotional investments or invest in emotional entities. Too much risk in such ventures. Not enough opportunity.
Mr. Wednesday: You could always hedge your bets!...

Mr. Wednesday: I'm gonna win this one. People like me more than they like you.
Mr. World: I prefer to be feared.

Miss Sloane (2016)

Elizabeth Sloane: Lobbying is about foresight. About anticipating your opponent's moves and devising countermeasures. The winner plots one step ahead of the opposition, and plays her trump card just after they play theirs—
Daniel Posner: You better not be saying that when you're in there.
Elizabeth Sloane: It's about making sure you surprise them, and they don't surprise you.

Elizabeth Sloane: On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer your question, based on my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Elizabeth Sloane: Daniel. When I take the stand, you'll see nothing but a granite wall.

Elizabeth Sloane: Know your subject, people! Failure to do so may result in the loss of a golden opportunity.

Elizabeth Sloane: I work on behalf of causes I believe in. That's how I sleep at night.
George Dupont: You don't sleep at night. You sit and obsess about winning, no matter the cause.

Rodolfo Schmidt: They're a boutique bipartisan Government Affairs agency.
Elizabeth Sloane: "Boutique" is a euphemism for "little fish." "Bipartisan" denotes a bunch of hippies in suits.

Elizabeth Sloane: Who's with me?

Jane Molloy: She's not predictable. She aims to surprise. She'll share things with her team, but she won't share everything. She'll have a plan for certain people, but they won't know until they're dropped right into the middle of it. There's always something else going on with her. It's just how she works.

Elizabeth Sloane: A senator's priority isn't representing the people, it's keeping his ass in office.
Cynthia: That is so cynical.
Elizabeth Sloane: "Cynical" is a word used by Pollyannas to denote an absence of the naivety they so keenly exhibit.

Rodolfo Schmidt: He was on board, but he just did a 180. Says he wants to wait and see.
Elizabeth Sloane: "Wait and see" is more like a 90.

Senator Ronald Sperling: And how did you react to the possibility of all this?
Rodolfo Schmidt: I told her it was mind-boggling, ingenious, morally repugnant and completely unacceptable.

Elizabeth Sloane: If they could produce a rational winning argument, I'd gladly migrate to their side, but "because it says so in the Constitution, the Bible, or my horoscope," it's not a winning argument! It's a ripcord. An intellectual equivalent of a yellow, pant-pissing wimp cowering behind mommy's skirt.

Esme Manucharian: That's it? I'm a "resource"?
Elizabeth Sloane: Professionally, yes. I understand you have feelings, and a life, but I have no duty to them. I have a duty to the cause, and if the two conflict, there will only ever be one winner.

Rodolfo Schmidt: Were you ever normal? As a child? Or were the twisted thought processes in your mind hard-wired in the womb? Because I'm having a really hard time understanding how somebody gets to this.
Elizabeth Sloane: .... Guess I'm just a piece of work.

Elizabeth Sloane: I grew up lying, Forde. Didn't want to. I had to. That's why I excel at it. It's a skill I would've happily traded for a normal life.
Forde: Normal's overrated.

Esme Manucharian: You crossed the line when you stopped treating people with respect. You're smart enough to know that. You just don't care.

Rodolfo Schmidt: Why don't you quit?
Elizabeth Sloane: And do what?

George Dupont: You know the root of the word "annihilate"? It's Latin. It means, "reduce to nothing."

Senator Ronald Sperling: How big a wedge we talking?
George Dupont: Big enough to be the difference between the continuation of your duties as a United States Senator and the reduction of your career to nothing.

Elizabeth Sloane: Prison's not so bad if you don't have a penis. We don't shank each other, we form self-help groups. There's a black market in lip gloss.

Elizabeth Sloane: Career suicide is not so bad when you consider the alternative is suicide by career. My doctor would tell you I've served my interest very well.

Otis: Don't worry. Left-handed.

Eric: I'm worried about you, man. Like, look around. Everybody's either thinking about shagging, about to shag, or actually shagging, and you can't even jack your beanstalk.

Jean: You know, they've been doing some interesting studies with cannabis. They're just starting to wake up to its health benefits.
Adam: Yeah? Like, um... How it makes everything funny?
Jean: You know, like your face. Ever so serious, like a... atlas. However, it has been linked to early onset impotence. Nothing conclusive yet. But be careful with how much you smoke.

Madame Michonnet: Good morning!... You know, one morning, you'll surprise me and say good morning back and I'll probably have a heart attack. Then you'll have to speak to another human being on the telephone about where they should send the ambulance, and that'll upset you.

CI Jules Maigret: And when was he shot?
Inspector LaPointe: From the temperature of his body, less than 12 hours ago. So after midnight. Like all the good murders.

Else Anderson: A gentleman would light my cigarette... Will you be a gentleman?

Madame Maigret: Sometimes, I think you don't know what it's like being married to a policeman. We have to come to terms with sharing you with all the bad things happening in Paris..

Madame Maigret: Because they get frightened.

Mr. Wednesday: Did we sit on a wall? Did we have a great fall?... Sweeney, pick up the arms and the talkie bits, would you?

Mr. Ibis: Right arm... Five pounds, two ounces. Loss of one ounce to necrosis plus a quarter ounce of maggots...
Mr. Wednesday: Nature's way of saying you've overstayed your welcome.

Laura: I wonder how much longer I'm gonna be fixable...

Mr. Ibis: The advantage of love at first sight... is it doesn't require a second look.

Technical Boy: Uh... How the fuck is that an upgrade?

Laura: What is this place again?
Mr. Wednesday: Oh, ask the local tinfoil-hat brigade. They'll tell you it's the secret HQ for the Deep State, the Illuminati, the men in black. Ask the local council, city hall, they'll tell you, "Ah, it's just a warehouse full of computers."
Laura: What's the truth?
Mr. Wednesday: Truth is Argus, and the truth doesn't care which version you prefer. The truth is just information. And information will win the war for you, if you let it.

Salim: I didn't picture the Corn Palace like this. In my head it was a lot more yellow. Like corn.

Mr. Wednesday: What's the worst thing you can do to a book?
Laura: Um... Ignore it?

Technical Boy: We need a plan of attack.
New Media: Mm. Man with a plan. Love it.
Technical Boy: I'm in charge.
New Media: I'll sing backup... Got it! #NotMe, #You!

Mad Sweeney: So, you're going all the way to New Orleans, then?
Christian Rocker: Yeah, we're bringing our message there tonight. We are just so happy to have you. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Tommy: You know what? I don't even like water. Water's overrated, got no taste. An ice... ice cold slushy, oh, man... That'd be so good.

Berber: I am not a very lucky man like you... But I am free man. I've moved on. I always move on because you've got to keep moving on. I make always next step, even if next step hard and take long and make... scared. You know how not to be scared? Must become... free man.

R & B

This Is Us 3×17

Beth: Um, you want to know what my idea of the perfect date is? It's nachos. It's-it's ginger beer and nachos.

Beth: I-I have to go, Randall. Again, you're-you're a very nice guy, but please don't call me again.

Nathan: So? How'd it go?
Randall: Good... I'm gonna marry her.

Beth: Did you tell your mom about all of the proposals?
Randall: Y-Y-Yes?

Randall: What? What don't you want?
Beth: I don't want my life to be consumed by my husband's. And, Randall, I love you, but... you consume things.

Beth: Ask me....
Randall: Right now?
Beth: Yeah. This is my favorite meal. You're my favorite person. This is how I want it.

Beth: Before you do this, we're not gonna lose ourselves in each other. We're gonna be full people. Equals. We're a team. All right, go ahead.

Randall: Beth Clarke... you are the love of my life. You are my reason. You are my joy. You are my everything. And I don't want to do life without you, so... will you marry me?

Beth: What rhymes with "love"?
Kate: Dove. Shove. Glove. Above.
Beth: Above! That's it. Thank you. What rhymes with "forever"?

Kate: Ooh! Endeavor.
Beth: What?
Kate: Rhymes with "forever."

Kevin: Oh, cut that. Cut that. Listen, just, here's the thing, man. Just go to the time where you start talking about Beth. Start from there.
Randall: Um... Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay, Kev, I... I don't think I wrote vows. I think I wrote a deeply boring dissertation on marriage.

Randall: Beth... I want to be the man that you deserve. And... I promise to spend the rest of my life earning your love, because you are the only thing... the only thing I'm ever going to need.

Beth: Honestly, Randall, when I look in your eyes, I see my home. I see eternity. And no matter what may come our way... I promise that I'll always choose you.

Beth: I was thinking, you know what's great about us, Randall, is that when I need nachos, you make them for me. And I love that. But you're the kind of person who goes for the whole chip with lots of cheese. You don't do it on purpose. You're just a whole chip with a lot of cheese kind of person. And so am I, yet...
Randall: Wait, no. I don't leave you with the crumbs! What, do you feel like I leave you with the crumbs?

Kevin: Well, why am I in the basement? 'Cause, you know, William over here, he's upstairs, he's in Annie's room.
Beth: 'Cause that's how we do it over here at Hotel Pearson. You know? Estranged fathers go upstairs, television star brothers go downstairs.

Beth: I just needed 24 hours to myself. Away from biological fathers and white brothers. And don't get me wrong, I adore them... I adore William. I tolerate Kevin. But it's a lot.

Beth: You have turned me into your mother.
Randall: Beth, don't bring my mother into this.
Beth: Well, she's already in it! You don't even realize it, but they're both in it.

You're the Worst 3×7

Gretchen: What?! We can litter in our own front yard now?!

Paul: I don't know if I can do this. I mean, I don't even like watching other men put gas in my car.

Lindsay: Paul...
Paul: Anything for our family.

Paul: Okay, so I don't know how this works. Is there, like, a discussion about what's appropriate? Or, uh...
Lindsay: Go sit over there.
Paul: Okay.

Becca: Oh, look. There's a bowl of candy in a quadcopter. Entertain yourself.

Vernon: The doctor in me is like, you're the patient, take what you've been prescribed, you dumb little bitch.
Edgar: Yeah, that's what I figured...
Vernon: But the human in me is like, "Smoke that ganj, yo." Real talk? It's bullroar that you can't get a pot card. You went to war. And straight berserkered on fools. That's an actual reason.

Freddy: '... Please scatter my ashes at the home of actor Tony Shalhoub, whose movie Big Night you and I attended together. ...'

Instant Family (2018)

Pete: No, don't show me that. I don't want to see those little faces. You trying to break my heart? I just got home from work.

Pete: Ellie, people who take in foster kids are really special. These are the kind of people who volunteer when it's not even a holiday. We don't even volunteer on a holiday.

Ellie: I think it's awful. But they're teenagers, okay? They use drugs, and they masturbate, and watch people playing video games on YouTube. We're not equipped for that.

Ellie: It's just a visitation. So...
Pete: It's just... Is it a problem, you know, the whole white savior thing? Like the Avatar thing.

Karen: Listen, you're gonna get some funny looks. And people are gonna say some stupid shit. But if you're willing to love these kids who need a mom and dad and somebody has a problem with that? You just ask 'em how many goddamn kids they've adopted.

Ellie: Yee-haw! We're gonna adopt a whole shitwhack of kids. And I am thankful that whoever has a problem with it can fuck right off!
Jerry: Amen.

Sharon: ... And, you know, if she's hostile with you again, maybe try using the three R's. Okay? Number one: regulate. "Lizzy, why don't you take some deep breaths, count to ten." Number two: relate. Fleabag #2.4

Fleabag: You really think there's a next life?
The Priest: What do you believe? Worm food? Why?!... Why would you believe in something awful when you could believe in something wonderful?
Fleabag: Don't make me an optimist, you will ruin my life.

Fleabag: Quaker meeting. You're not allowed to speak. If the Spirit moves you to speak, you have to stand up and share it with everyone. It's very intense. It's very quiet. It's very, very... erotic.

Fleabag: I don't really think it's... I'm not really feeling the... I don't think it's really affecting me... Oh, my... Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God. What am I going to say? What am I going to say?... I sometimes worry that I wouldn't be such a feminist if I had bigger tits.

Fleabag: They are born, they shit themselves with fear and then they die.
The Priest: Can I use that at the wedding?

Fleabag: I just... I don't know what to...
Dad: I know... Buck up. Smile. Charm. Off we go. We'll be okay.

I just think I want someone to tell me... how to live my life, Father, because so far I think I've been getting it wrong. And I know that's why people want people like you in their lives. Because you just tell them how to do it. You just tell them what to do, and what they'll get out of the end of it. Even though I don't believe your bullshit, and I know that scientifically nothing I do makes any difference in the end anyway, I'm still scared! Why am I still scared?!....
