Coushatta

Better Call Saul 4×8

Jimmy: Just a word of warning... I had a pile of cheese-chili fries back at Stuckey's, with onions on top. Last guy who sat here didn't last five miles. But, you know, welcome to it.

Nacho: What you owe, you owe. With interest.

Ziegler: He built that.
Mike: The Sydney Opera House?
Ziegler: Those concrete arches, impossible in 1957. Six years it took to solve the problem. Six. And years more to pour correctly. To that, my father gave 10 years of life.

Mrs. Nguyen: You take her to dinner. Nice place with a waiter. Cloth napkin. You bring flowers. You say sorry. Then say sorry again. Whatever she says, you say sorry.
Jimmy: I think we might be past that.
Mrs. Nguyen: ... I'll leave the bottle.

Ericsen: A misdemeanor?
Kim: Yes.
Ericsen: You're asking to go from 18-months' jail time down to nothing?... Sorry. I can't do that.
Kim: Okay.

Ericsen: What's the plan here, Kim? Because shock and awe isn't gonna cut it. Bring every fancy associate you got, file all the motions you want. And at the end of all this, your client is still going away.
Kim: ... Okay. I guess we'll see...

Mike: They forgot? The German national in the middle of Albuquerque... talking about pouring hundreds of tons of concrete... at a secret underground location?

Judge Munsinger: I have one question for you, Ms. Ericsen. Are you prosecuting Santa Claus?

Pastor Hansford: Have you set a date yet for Huell's trial?
Ericsen: No, not yet.
Pastor Hansford: Would you do me a kindness and ring me up when you do? Because we got a couple of charter buses. We're gonna bring the whole congregation up to y'all in Albuquerque...
Ericsen: I'll make sure to let you know.
Pastor Hansford: Bless you. And I look forward to meeting you.

Kevin: But what do you think, Kim? Can you pull another rabbit out of the hat for us?

Jimmy: ...And also, I agree. We are totally done with all that. Over and out. No more.
Kim: ..... Let's do it again.

Lalo: You are going to love this. I made this just for you. Never in your life have you tasted something so delicious, it's true. Wait... You're gonna die.
Nacho: ... No, thank you.

Lalo: This is a special recipe. A family secret.
Nacho: The Salamanca family?
Lalo: Them! I am Eduardo. But you can call me Lalo.

Nine Bucks

This Is Us 3×1

Rebecca: I'm sorry, I feel like I'm talking too much. Am I talking too much? 'Cause I feel like I'm talking too much. Please tell me something about you.
Jack: Uh... well... my name's Jack.

Jack: I met the girl. ... THE girl.

Jack: Nine bucks to show my dream girl the night of her life.

Beth: Now I'm sure of it. Your brother and my cousin are knockin' boots... It's an expression from the '90s. It means that they are having sex.

Randall: Hey-hey-hey, it is my birthday. And I need you to swear to it on Oprah.
Beth: ... I'm not doing that.

Kevin: I'm turning 30-none-of-your-business. That's how old I'm turning.

Beth: What in the holy hell are you thinking?!
Zoe: What am I thinking? I'm thinking he looks like Batman and he is built like a truck.
Beth: Will you stop with the honesty?

Kate: When is the universe gonna give me a damn break?

Rebecca: It's a hard no on cats?
Jake: Allergic.
Rebecca: Oh. And mushrooms?
Jake: Oh, I hate 'em. No, like, I passionately hate them.

Rebecca: Oh, but the way that you look at me, wow...

Beth: She will break you, Kevin. ... She eats men up and spits them out, and you won't stand a chance.

Dr. Jasper: Realistically, there's about a 90% chance of failure here, but I'm choosing to look at the ten percent side today.

Sportscaster: It's just one of those plays that'll go down in history, a single moment that changed destiny forever.

Sportscaster: A reminder for all of us, I think, that sometimes a ball has to bounce off one person a few times to wind up in the hands of the right guy and make a story truly immortal.

Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990)

John McClane: Here we are, Washington, DC, the heart of democracy. One hand washes the other. Come on, man. It's Christmas.
Sgt. Vito Lorenzo: So ask Santa Claus to give you another car!

Holly McClane: Honey, it's the '90s, remember? Microchips, microwaves, faxes, air phones...
John McClane: Hey, well, as far as I'm concerned, progress peaked with frozen pizza.

Samantha Coleman: Colonel Stuart, can I have a few words, please?
Col. Stuart: You can have two: "fuck" and "you".

Sergeant: Freeze!
John McClane: Nice guess, asshole. I'm a cop. That was the bad guy.

John McClane: Oh man, I can't fucking believe this. Another basement, another elevator. How can the same shit happen to the same guy twice?

Trudeau: What are you going to do?
John McClane: Whatever I can.

John McClane: Damnit! I hate it when I'm right!

John McClane: Just once, I'd like a regular, normal Christmas. Eggnog, a fuckin' Christmas tree, a little turkey. But, no. I gotta crawl around in this motherfuckin' tin can.

Holly McClane: Listen Dick. That is your name? Dick. If you're gonna continue to get this close do you think you might consider switching aftershaves?
Richard Thornburg: Anything else?
Holly McClane: Stronger mouthwash would be nice.

Marvin: You like it, huh? How about giving me 20 bucks for it?
John McClane: How about I let you live?
Marvin: The man knows how to bargain.

Grant: You're the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time!
John McClane: The story of my life.

John McClane: All right. Stay here and get ready to call the marines.
Chief Engineer Leslie Barnes: I thought they were the army.
John McClane: Who gives a fuck, just be ready.

John McClane: I don't like to fly.
Samantha Coleman: Then why are you here?
John McClane: I don't like to lose either.

John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!

Holly McClane: Why does this keep happening to us?

Equally Dead Inside

You're the Worst 1×7

Gretchen: We're not calling each other anything. We just made a verbal agreement not to sleep with other people. For now.
Jimmy: In a week, we could remember that monogamy is a social construct free of biological necessity.
Gretchen: Or we could be invited to a really fun sex party.

Gretchen: Listen, if something is bothering you and you want to talk about it, I will listen. Or if you just want to pretend that nothing happened, that's totally fine, too.

Edgar: We should just ignore them tonight until they ask about us.
Lindsay: Ooh, I love that. Like an experiment, but without the boring science part like milligrams and elements and shit.

Gretchen: I can't believe I finally made a new friend, and I tried to bang her the first time we hung out. I suck at girls, Jimmy. All the way back to the fourth grade when everyone was mean to me because I was the first person to grow boobs.

Discworld | Terry David John Pratchett | witch | fantasy

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

Solomon Lane: There has never been peace without first a great suffering. The greater the suffering, the greater the peace.

Ethan Hunt: It's entirely possible to be relaxed any extremely uneasy at the same time.

Alan Hunley: You had a terrible choice to make in Berlin. Recover the plutonium or save your team. You chose your team and now the world's at risk. Some flaw, deep within your core being simply won't allow you to choose between one life and millions... You see that as a sign of weakness. To me, that's your greatest strength. It also tells me I can count on you to cover my ass.

August Walker: Looks like you lost your oxygen.

August Walker: You look nothing like him.
Ethan Hunt: Now, we have to hope they never met.
August Walker: Hope is not a strategy.
Ilsa Faust: Oh you're new!

Ilsa Faust: You don't understand what you're involved in.
Ethan Hunt: I don't understand what I'm involved in? I don't understand what I'm involved in?! What am I involved in?

Benji Dunn: Why's he running in circles?

Luther Stickell: He's a good man. And he cares about you. More than he can admit. That's one more worry than he can handle right now.

August Walker: Why won't you just die?

Σ xaxam: «......

The Reader (2008)

Hanna: You don't have the power to upset me. You don't matter enough to upset me.

Hanna: You don't have to apologize. No one has to apologize. War and Peace, kid.

Professor Rohl: Societies think they operate by something called morality, but they don't. They operate by something called law.
You're not guilty of anything merely by working at Auschwitz. Eight thousand people worked at Auschwitz. Precisely 19 have been convicted, and only six for murder.
To prove murder, you have to prove intent. That's the law. The question is never was it wrong, but was it legal. And not by our laws, no. By the laws at the time.

Hanna Schmitz: What would you have done?

Rudolf: You tell us to think like lawyers, but there's something... disgusting about this.
Professor Rohl: How so?
Rudolf: This didn't happen to the Germans. It happened to the Jews... Six women locked 300 Jews in a church and let them burn. What is there to understand? Tell me! I'm asking! What is there to understand?... I started out believing in this trial. I thought it was great. Now, I think it's... it's just a diversion.
Professor Rohl: Yes? Diversion from what?
Rudolf: You choose six women, you put them on trial, you say, "They were the evil ones, they were the guilty ones." One of the victims happened to write a book. That's why they're on trial and nobody else!... Do you know how many camps there were in Europe? People go on about how much did everyone know? Who knew? What did they know?... Everyone knew! Our parents, our teachers. That isn't the question! The question is, "How'd you let this happen?" Better, "Why didn't you kill yourself when you found out?..." Thousands. That's how many. There were thousands of camps. Everyone knew.

Professor Rohl: What we feel isn't important. It's utterly unimportant. The only question is what we do. If people like you don't learn
from what happened to people like me, then what the hell is the point of anything?

Michael: What do you feel now?
Hanna: It doesn't matter what I feel. It doesn't matter what I think. The dead are still dead.

Ilana Mather: People ask all the time what I learned in the camps. But the camps weren't therapy. What do you think these places were, universities? We didn't go there to learn. One becomes very clear about these things.

Ilana Mather: What are you asking for? Forgiveness for her? Or do you just want to feel better yourself?... My advice? Go to the theater if you want catharsis. Please. Go to literature. Don't go to the camps. Nothing comes out of the camps. Nothing.

The Good Place 1×7

Eleanor: It's forking perfect!

Eleanor: Well, Michael did bring me here, which was the mistake that led to all the other problems. So, in that sense, he is the real problem... Ha! How do you like them ethics? I just ethics'd you in the face, Chidi!
Chidi: It doesn't change the fact that we weren't truthful. There's an old Chinese proverb... "Lies are like tigers. They are bad."
Eleanor: ... That's it?
Chidi: It's more poetic in Mandarin.

Eleanor: We're doing one small murder-y thing for a bigger, better reason. The ends justify the means.
Chidi: Do you know who said that?
Eleanor: Was it someone nice and great, like Oprah?
Chidi: It was Machiavelli... A very non-Oprah-like figure.

Eleanor: Listen, man, I'm dead, you're dead, we all died, and now we're killing her. Pay it forward.
Chidi: Uh, no, that's not what that means at all.

Eleanor: Chidi? Cheedster? What's, uh, happening, buddy? You have a crazy look in your eye, and you're retreating into your shirt. You're kind of turtling.

Jill Stein: Climate change. Um, so I'm a scientist...

Sergeant Corporal Erran Morad: In the US, there are 3.7 million home invasions every year. So today, I'm gonna teach a housewife and her pussy husband how to fist the burglar. Yalla, let's go!

Sergeant Corporal Erran Morad: You need to think like the terrorist. And they are... are they stupid?

Sergeant Corporal Erran Morad: They are more intelligent than you and certainly you.

Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: Eight months ago, I went through the misogynistic and shameful process of impregnating my female partner, Naomi. In order to make amends, for two months I wore an empathy belly...

Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: I finally decided to go through the sexist act of childbirth myself.

Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: I feel if men could empathize with women and the birthing process, that the world problems would be cured.

Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: Well, currently, I have here, a doll. So the plan is to put this in my momb, my male womb...

Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: Perhaps we begin the birth, because I am concerned after eating a spicy breakfast that I might be giving birth to twins.
Ataana Badilli: Well, if that happens, it happens. If more comes out, then we'll just have to be prepared for that.

Ataana Badilli: How do you feel?
Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: I feel like crying.
Ataana Badilli: Why? Because you...
Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello: Because the baby's beautiful, but it doesn't have a head.

Rick Sherman: This is a nod to my background in prison, a medley of baked beans on toast, 'cause the baked beans and the toast are classic staples of the prison diet. We have cheddar, gochujang, and marmite...

Rick Sherman: ...it was the most tender veal I'd ever tasted. And essentially, the veal would be massaged every time he walked... So that inspired this dish, which is a veal anally aged for eight days in a prophylactic. And it's a strawberry-flavored condom to give it that kind of summery feel. Please, enjoy.
Bill Jilla: .... Brilliant! Mmm. This is straight from the heart.
Rick Sherman: Well, nearby.
Bill Jilla: Juicy, moist. I'm a big fan of braised meats. But in fact, I will say that this is the best braised veal I've ever had in my entire lifetime.

Rick Sherman: So I give you my pièce de résistance... This is a filet of vegetarian-fed Chinese dissident and a cauliflower purée. Please enjoy.
Bill Jilla: .... Mmm... Butter. It's, like, butter-soft.

Rick Sherman: It would be a great honor for the family to actually have somebody respected in the West, seen as enjoying their son, Chun Fi. Would it be possible to just say how delicious their son is?
Bill Jilla: Sure.
Rick Sherman: To the Lao family.
Bill Jilla: To the Lao family, thank you very much. It's truly an honor and pleasure. This is Chun Fi's loin that I'm enjoying very much. And thanks to Chef, who did a wonderful job preparing it. It's just simply melting on my palate.
Rick Sherman: How does Chun Fi taste?
Bill Jilla: Superb.

Sarah: You are a class-A asshole... an unpleasant jagoff who fills every room he steps into with a philosophical fart. But your beer... man. It's poetry in a bottle.

Jim: You being up on this roof... I think you got yourself an easy way out. Take it from a class-A asshole... Death is a certainty. Getting out from under the shit you've done isn't.

Sharon: Are you serious?! Did you not hear what your child said?! Kids died at his school!

Sharon: I... Why are you all acting like this is normal? What is wrong with you people?!

Eric: So if, you know, you feel like there's a need to come after me to get back at me, I just need you to know that people are lying because I liked "Black Panther" just as much as you did. I am not a racist.
Token: I actually never saw "Black Panther."
Eric: Say what, girlfrriend?! Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis?! Come on, Rog! You never saw "Black Panther?"
Token: No, I didn't see it.
Eric: But I thought all of you saw it.

Sharon: Are you (BLEEP) joking?! You're gonna take one second to compare child murder to park upgrades?! What is wrong with everybody?! You've all gone crazy!

Eric: My mom said if I flunk another math test, she's gonna ground me from playing "Fortnite."

Eric: This world is full of two types of people... the ones who are honest, and the ones who don't play by the rules. Token's got everyone believing he's the one African American in the entire country who didn't see "Black Panther." What else is he lying about?

Paramedic: You see, Mr. Marsh, menopause is almost like a super period, and it's been known to last... for up to two years.

Eric: $1.3 billion domestic box office. A milestone for African Americans. And I'm supposed to believe that Token and his little sex kitten never even talked about it.

Eric: In poker, they call it a bluff. I know that right now, Token's shitting his pants. All I need to do now is wait for the poop to stink.

Randy: You... You got your period?
Sharon: Yes!
Randy: You just got your period this morning.
Sharon: Yes!
Randy: So, the past few days, maybe you have been just a little...
Sharon: No! No! Nothing! Don't you guys see what's happened here?!

Forbidden Fruit

American Horror Story. Apocalypse

8×3

Langdon: True darkness requires a certain depth of character...

Langdon: The old world lived under a set of rules. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shall love thy neighbor, etcetera, etcetera. Rules that were clearly honored in the breach. I want a world without the hypocrisy, with the kinds of people who wouldn't just eat from the fruit of the forbidden tree, but who'd cut the fucking tree down and burn it for firewood!

Mallory: Sometimes I feel like there's someone buried inside me. Someone trying to claw their way out.

Miriam: I loved candy. I hated fruit.

Wilhemina: You have a suggested course?
Miriam: Kill them all.

Miriam: Why not? You're mean and self-involved enough to survive anything. And I'm a goddamn robot.

Wilhemina: Attendance... is mandatory.

Gallant: I fucking love Halloween. It's the one day of the year when the rest of the world puts in some effort to be fabulous, like I am every other day.

Mallory: I think I made the fire with my mind. ... Maybe it was the blast, the radiation, it did something and now I'm like the Dark Phoenix.

Wilhemina: Boo.

Wilhemina: Tonight is All Hallows' Eve, which marks the beginning of the dark half of the year, when the boundary between this world and the Other thins, and lost souls pierce the firmament, desperate to find their way home... It is a night to remember the dead, and there have been far too many to mourn. But also to celebrate that we have yet to join them.

Coco: Defile me any way you like... Oh, but a warning, I have a very short tongue and a sensitive gag reflex.

Coco: Brock. How the fuck did you get in here? What happened to your face?
Brock: Radioactive fallout. Cancer. Cannibal attacks. Infections that never heal.

Brock: Happy Halloween, bitch!

Wilhemina: It is time to enjoy our good fortune. You have your treat.... And here's the trick.

Wilhemina: We're making the selections now, Mr. Langdon. And I'm afraid you didn't make the cut.

Langdon: I've never been a fan of getting my hands dirty. Learned that from my Father. Always more fun to entice men and women to dirty deeds. Confirms what I've always believed.
Miriam: W-What do you believe?
Langdon: That all people, if given the right pressures or stimulus, are evil motherfuckers.

Ándale

Mr. Mercedes 2x5

Bill: The truth of it is, none of it makes any fucking sense.
Jerome: But?
Bill: I can't shake the idea that that's where the truth is.

Jerome: Can I ask you something? Without you going off on me?
Bill: You can ask... no guarantees.

Bill: Purpose, right? I want a serial-killing, ice-cream fuck to crawl out from his vegetative crypt because it beats the shit out of playing Scrabble? Is that it?

Ida: Listen, in our day, we at least used to pass notes. These kids just sit there and stare at these things.

Ida: Oh, teaching English?
Elliot: Our mother tongue, in the age of emojis.

Montez: I need a case, Felix. And no one's been thoughtful enough to slaughter an entire family or thrill-kill a bunch of white women lately.

Montez: Ándale, Doctor. Make your medical magic bullshit happen.

Silas: In fact, the majority of human communication, especially in groups, is nonverbal.
Holly: Speaking of nonverbal communication, let's say there was a mute, immobile psychopath... Do you think that there's, like, any possible way that he could get into someone's brain and then convince that person to kill herself?
Silas: Are you talking about a particular situation?
Holly: No. Not at all. No way.

Silas: I don't think it's possible... I know it is. You ever heard of entanglement?
Holly: Like... like, quantum theory?
Silas: Exactly... When you're dealing with entangled particles, they will never act independently from one another. One will always be in control of the other one, no matter how far apart they are in space and time. ... And certain people... manipulators, we call them... they're able to maneuver energy, be it physical or psychic. Simple as that.

Silas: Do you know what Einstein called it when he first discovered entanglement?... "Spooky action at a distance."

Jerome: You got that look again.
Bill: What look?
Jerome: The "Hey, Jerome, you down to break the law look today?"
Bill: Nonsense. Just checking on your gazebo progress.

Jerome: You're obsessing. .... What the hell is wrong with you?
Bill: You think I know?

Bill: You know, people assume as we age that, you know, this old-fuck wisdom just clicks in. Well, it isn't like that. Fucking lose track of anything. You want a little piece of old-fuck wisdom? Here it is... everything goes to shit. Write it down.

Bill: Well, maybe you should give me some wisdom for the young, then. What do we tell the young people these days?
Jerome: Follow your heart. It works every time.

Montez: ...I also said something to him, something that I haven't said out loud since sophomore-year Latin class. Just... came to me. "Occupandi temporis."
Bill: "Seize the moment" or some fucking thing.
Montez: Right.

Heat (1995)

Sgt. Drucker: You recognize the MO?
Vincent Hanna: M.O.? Is that they're good... Once it escalated into a murder one beef for all of 'em after they killed the first two guards, they didn't hesitate. Pop guard number three because... what difference does it make? Why leave a living witness? Drop of a hat these guys will rock and roll...

Vincent Hanna: I got three dead bodies on a sidewalk off Venice Boulevard, Justine. I'm sorry... if the goddamn chicken... got overcooked.

Eady: Traveling makes you lonely?
Neil McCauley: I... I'm alone. I am not lonely.

Neil McCauley: Remember Jimmy MacAwain on the yard used to say: You wanna be making moves on the street? Have no attachments. Allow nothing to be in your life... that you cannot walk out on in 30 seconds flat... if you spot the heat around the corner. Remember that?

Chris Shiherlis: For me, the sun rises and sets with her, man.

Neil McCauley: What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone...
Roger Van Zant: I don't understand.
Neil McCauley: ...because there is a dead man on the other end of this fucking line.

Vincent Hanna: When these guys walk out the door of whatever score they're gonna take next... they're gonna have the surprise of a lifetime.

Vincent Hanna: I gotta hold on to my angst. I preserve it, because I need it. It keeps me sharp, on the edge. Where I gotta be.

Justine Hanna: You don't live with me. You live among the remains of dead people. You read the terrain. You search for signs of passing... for the scent of your prey... and then you hunt them down. That's the only thing you're committed to. The rest is the mess you leave as you pass through.

Vincent Hanna: I don't know how to do anything else.
Neil McCauley: Neither do I.
Vincent Hanna: I don't much want to either.
Neil McCauley: Neither do I.

Vincent Hanna: You know, we're sitting here... you and I, like a couple of regular fellows. You do what you do, and I do what I gotta do. And now that we've been face to face... if I'm there and I gotta put you away, I won't like it. But I'll tell you... if it's between you and some poor bastard... whose wife you're gonna turn into a widow... brother, you are going down.
Neil McCauley: There's a flip side to that coin. What if you do got me boxed in and I gotta put you down? Because no matter what, you will not get in my way.
We've been face to face, yeah... but I will not hesitate. Not for a second.
Vincent Hanna: Maybe that's the way it'll be. Or... who knows?
Neil McCauley: Or maybe we'll never see each other again...

Vincent Hanna: I'm angry, yeah. I'm very angry, Ralph. You know, you can ball my wife if she wants you to. You can lounge around here on her sofa, in her ex-husband's dead-tech, post-modernistic bullshit house if you want to. But you do not get to watch my fucking television set!

Neil McCauley: I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I know life is short. Whatever time you get is luck.

Justine Hanna: Is there any way... that it could work out between us?
Vincent Hanna: I wish I could say yes, you know. But in the end... You know, it's like you said: All I am, is what I'm going after.
