Untethered

Those Who Kill 1×9

& Bisgaard: It becomes your problem. You’re gonna piss her off. And a pissed off Catherine is a world of hurt no one wants to live in.

& Jensen: That’s why you won’t answer my questions about Howard. ’Cause you think I’m like your brother.
Thomas: If you were the same as him, then Howard would’ve been dead years ago... The difference is we see violence and we can’t sleep. But they sleep just fine.
    Jensen: I killed Eric Krogh...
    Thomas: Yeah. How’d you sleep?

& Thomas: I’ve never had a single piece written about me that didn’t have the word “kill” in the title.
    Jensen: You do study killers.
Thomas: Yeah, but why do they write about that stuff?.. I taught John to ride a bike that week. That didn’t make the papers. Violence is addictive. Contagious. And we’re social animals, so other people affect us. Especially family.

Those Who Kill 1×8

& Dr. Schaeffer: Catherine, look, when... when my brother... did what he did... I was angry. Really. I mean, it was... physical. That kind of anger is insidious. It’s aimed at them. But they don’t feel it. You do. It poisons you. Forgiveness isn’t something that you do for them. You do it to get rid of the poison.

& Jensen: I asked you not to tell Bisgaard about my mom.
    Molbeck: I care about you.
    Jensen: So shoot me.
Mia: Uh, with Jensen, you want to go easy on the whole, uh, “shoot me” stuff.

& Molbeck: Hey, didn’t you used to know a guy in Narcotics?
Jensen: Yeah, I used to know his brains out.

& Molbeck: And why am I doing this?
Jensen: Because if I’m right, you want in on this. Come on.

A Safe Place

Those Who Kill 1×7

& Thomas: John, all kinds of people are gonna lie to you in your life. Almost everybody. Let’s not do it to each other. Let’s have a safe place for the truth.

& Thomas: There’s only ever two reasons to hide stuff... because it’s private or because it’s wrong.

& Roddie: Is this Heaven?

& Jensen: Got to be the dad. It’s always the dad.

& Bisgaard: Are you hungover or pregnant?
    Jensen: Families make me barf.

& Benedicte: I want you to take a look at yourself, and then profile yourself, and then profile me, and tell me, for the love of God, why I’m not walking out of this house with our son.

& Paul: You never told me what you do.
Jensen: I’m a double agent. I have to meet Putin downtown in the Tap Room at the William Penn.

& Molbeck: What about Jensen and Schaeffer?
Wilkie: Ah, what do we need Scooby-Doo for anyways?

Those Who Kill 1×5

& Marie: Eight seventy-five? The house your father bought when we got married was 875 a year.

& Marie: I don’t know. This place looks like, I don’t know, Catwoman would live here.
Jensen: That’s just cognitive illogical association, Mom.

& Benedicte: I come from a big family, and I don’t know what I would do without my brothers and sisters. How about you?
    Jensen: My older brother died.
    Benedicte: I’m so sorry.
Jensen: I’d do anything not to “know what I’d do without” him.

& Marie: So... as a behavioral psychologist, what can you tell me about a person that would move out of a free high-rise overlooking the city... into this a dump like this?
Thomas: Well, in my, uh, professional view, it indicates a person to whom achieving their independence is very important. But if you’re asking me as her friend, I bet it’s cause Catherine thinks it’s cool.

& Nathan: He’s afraid.
    Jensen: Of...?
Nathan: In his book, ’Murderers and Serial Killers’ he wrote: “Genetics loads the gun, environment takes aim, experience pulls the trigger.” We came from the same parents, we grew up in the exact same room... Experience is the only difference.

& Thomas: Are you sure you want to do this, Catherine?
Jensen: I’ve been working for years to this moment. I’m ready.

& Dr. Schaeffer: I can take apart a broken clock, put all the pieces out on a table and figure out what’s wrong with it. Then I can replace the bad part, put it back together right, and it works. But if I figured out that a human was broken, took out all their pieces, spread ’em on the table... that person would never work again.
